Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Oh dear 136 in NSW 😞
Sounds like loads out infectious. Not going by the 50+ that Gladys prefers. For some reason NSW Health now delays the tweet with the further detail.

Looks like Gladys is asking for more vaccine to be redirected from other states.

Number active in community is 50+ again… (so my guess would be probably really 80….)

I wonder if Dr Chant is going to turn up?

WA, TAS, NT should give up all their vaccines and be redirected to NSW and VIC I agree.

Roadmap coming. Gladys talking about August, September and October which no doubt will cause some angst.

What is this new strategy?

- Dr Chant says it’s a national
emergency
- We will be responding accordingly
- We will look to release restrictions in other LGAs and try a more targeted approach and containing virus to SW/W Sydney

This will be an interesting experiment….

What on earth is this communication strategy?

emergency

- We will be responding accordingly
- We will look to release restrictions in other LGAs and try a more targeting approach and containing virus to SW/W Sydney
This was such a ridiculous back to back.

It's abundantly clear that the underlying message is we have lost control of the outbreak, and zero is now impossible, and bringing it back under control is more or less impossible without significant extra vaccine resources from the Commonwealth.

Certainly not controlled, but whether it is out of control say similar to India or in Australia last year remains to be seen.

I find it interesting them saying ‘we know how the transmission is occurring’ when they have 100’s of mystery cases…. Where are they getting it do we think?

Also it appears in the known linked cases a lot of it is in food production - which I foolishly suggested should be under surveillance testing weeks ago (like VIC did in wave 2) but got shrieked down by a certain poster on here…. ;) Maybe this should be put in now?

Dr Chant is now the number 1 fan of AZ.

About time. Massively promoting it.

‘We need to correct the mythology, I can’t understand why people are not going out to get AZ in droves’

‘Anyone under 40 should be considering it, if I was and living in those areas I would get it’

‘and I have had it, my husband has had it, my mother in law has had it, the risk is incredibly low’

Wow….. hope ATAGI is listening…

I'm not sure it's within the capabilities of pathology with the numbers of tests NSW is processing every day? It definitely should have been done after the lesson in Victoria.

Dr Chant is giving an impassioned plea for people to get AstraZeneca. Good on her. I honestly was hoping she was going to admonish all who have talked it down, but she stopped one step short. Again, I commend her words of encouragement to people to go and get AZ.
