Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

So that will be 3 linked to the previous clusters and most likely the teacher and 2 possibly linked to the teacher. I understand that there was at least one other person in her household.

Note too that those figures are till midnight. So as the day progresses more and more will get tested (7+ hours for most to get results back, though priority contacts will be rushed and some will have the rapid-testing as well).

By the presser, if not already they should have at least some more results back (either negative or positive), though most of the school cohort will only have started to get tested from this morning on.

cough. Looks like Greater Newcastle is headed for a lockdown.
Testing centres are busy around here but can they wait a couple of days for cases to appear before doing something. Plus they have the sewer results from Newcastle areas.

So as many were hoping, myself included that restrictions would lift to a degree next week like home visits allowed, yet park/playground catchups suffice to me for now.

Maybe 6.0 more likely now. Especially with any cases this arvo that arise. only 3 atm.

That's our world (In Aus) for now, handful of cases with Delta & we lockdown.

5th hand information there’s a positive case in a Maitland school

So this case is a male, a player for Newport Football Club, and will be part of the 3 unlinked cases mentioned in the figures to midnight last night. So they and the teacher both presented for testing on the same day.

There is a 50/50 chance this is the husband of the teacher. Probably likely given the age of the teacher and the likely age of the player.

There is clearly going to be a large number of people quarantining/isolating as of yesterday/today.

Oh no, a bigger question is when and how did the transmission happen....
Unsourced post on Whirlpool about the Newcastle outbreak.
Just plain dumb if true.

The Morisset High School case was linked to the family travelling to Sydney for a family gathering allegedly. The other Sibling attends Lake Munmorah PS who also tested positive.

Schools, schools, schools. Anyone remember at the start of this one of Gladys' catch phrases was "schools are safe". We never hear that now.

It was true then. It’s not true with Delta.

I just hope she does not come back with "I said an 18 year old this person was in their 20's".
Reportedly the Qld CHO yesterday said people shouldn't be ordering online to reduce the number of couriers on the road.

Think it just comes down to the objectives the Govt sets. Imagine putting Dr Young in charge of Qld Transport with an objective of reducing the road toll.

The then I was referring to was the start of the NSW outbreak. Press conferences in June this year.

If you read through the Vic Second Wave Clusters you will find schools and day care centres. At Al Taqwa the older students were a key part of the spread.

The recent previous Delta Outbreak in Melbourne had primary school age children infecting each other.

The current outbreak has many different school clusters.

That's another catch phrase. And was well known prior to it arriving on these shores.
Well as has been noted before, the false starts of Delta in Australia we now know gave cold/false comfort.

Looking back at the NSW Health weekly surveillance report - there were three or four superspreader events/location that probably couldn't be stopped.

Bondi cafe
Double Bay hair salon
West Hoxton party
Marrickville food distributor

At least 60 primary cases, leading to a minimum of 200 cases...

So she doesnt want you to leave home to go shopping, but also doesnt want you to order delivery. How are people supposed to eat, get medication, household supplies?
