What was that you were saying about people’s behaviour being better in some areas… mmm hmmm. I think we can now all agree that people are the same - everywhere. Period.
NSW is in the middle of an outbreak which is well publicised and people are still out in the community while infectious.
In Victoria the community infection rate was zero. Lockdown restrictions had been slightly eased. There was no reason for the ordinary person to assume covid was out in the community and spreading (health authorities may have suspected it was there, hence the slow easing of restrictions)
I know you didn't say it, but for the benefit of those who might draw that conclusion, the current Brisbane outbreak did not come from NSW - it came from an international arrival into BNE. They still don't have the link to the outbreak but they know it came from there.
There's been plenty of other sources in recent times that have not been NSW.

It's something that the PM & all premiers have to be asked straight up.
Can we deal with & open without lockdowns with upto 10k daily cases & couple doz daily deaths.
This question must be asked with a no bullsheet answer.
Cos of it's a no, then that will cause problems, big problems everywhere here.
SA is screwed then with a CHO insisting on Covid zero. However we have an election in March and as it's currently Liberal then the private business sector will be pushing for a financial reality check with closure and zero target. The Police Commissioner is more of a pragmatist and I take it that he has over ruled the CHO recently, he's probably still rankling from cancelling his daughter's wedding because of the pizza guy.
13 new in QLD but all linked apart from 1 child who they are investigating. Lockdown should end tomorrow as planned
Fingers crossed… If we are off the leash temporarily I plan to stock up on a few months materials to keep me busy around the farm.
No end in sight .. who woulda thunk it a few moths ago..

Oh I absolutely agree it should be asked. In SA the media is dreadful. They get stuck on stuff that no one cares about and don't ask the hard questions, although Chris Kenny was here on holidays a few weeks ago and for the ability to cut through the polit speak was great to see. But of course the local journos criticised him heavily, because imo he showed how bad they were and he was encroaching on their turf.

That is far, far from my understanding.
Stevens and Spurrier have sided over far more than they have disagreed on and Marshall has been “ganged up on” frequently
Its convenient for the Victorian authorities to point to someone (more than 1 as well) being non-compliant (symptomatic and not testing, visiting households). It avoids scrutiny on whether Victoria authorities decided to lift lockdown too early.
Thankfully it wasn't really lifted! Still 'work from home' if you can, no visitors, masks at all times while outside the home. It seems the 'no visitor' rule might have been breached in this latest outbreak though? (it appears the infected couple visited the home of their relatives?)
A range of restrictions will ease across Victoria tonight, thanks to the incredible work of our public health teams and every single Victorian who has done their part to keep our community safe from coronavirus. Following a reduction in community transmission of coronavirus in Victoria...

From 11.59pm tonight, Victorians will be able to leave their homes for any reason. Restaurants and cafes can also reopen for seated service. Retail and beauty and personal care will open in line with density limits, as will entertainment venues and community facilities.
The Authorised Worker List will no longer apply, meaning businesses and venues can reopen with capacity and density limits of 1 person per 4sqm. Victoria will return to the rule that ‘if you can work from home, you should work from home’ but office workers will be able to return up to 25 per cent or up to 10 people, whichever is greater.
In welcome news for families, kids can get back to the classroom with schools reopening for onsite learning to all students from tomorrow.
Public gatherings will be allowed with up to 10 people, with infants under 12 months not included in the cap.

So the Robust discussions were between those two versus the Premier? Stevens looked very grumpy. Damn. Stevens was my hope. If that's the case then Marshall needs to revoke the Emergency power and implement the legislation that we've been told doesn't exist to cover the things they've been doing now.

At various times all have picked sides and had disagreements. Marshall is copping a lot of heat from business leaders and whilst he has gone along with the short, sharp lockdown agenda he has wanted restrictions lifted at the same speed they were introduced. Stevens has the most to say over border closures from what I’ve been told

Lookdown clearly finished, but various restrictions remained. ie Masks and no household visits being just two.
But what are you trying to advocate? Staying in lockdown when there are no known cases?
Unfortunately we are back in lockdown as 3 people chose to not go and get tested despite being symptomatic for an extended period of time, and even more so when symptomatic chose to still go to work, go out etc. And possibly 2 of those people also broke the no household visits rule.
Lockdowns work. And yes it had to come back because of the actions of a few. And yes some people are always going to do what they should not do whether is a lockdown current or not. And new sources for outbreaks are going to happen too. (Which is possibly the source of the Derrimut worker, and so the genomic testing that should come out today will be interesting).
So cases will be controlled. But new cases will keep emerging. Restrictions settings will keep getting varied and lockdowns will keep coming and going. Delta has just made this moreso. This is just the realty that we all currently face up until we eventually reach a high enough vaccination rate and we just start living with the virus which for the foreseeable future is going to be endemic.
