Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Ok. People pretty much on this forum I believe agree that the media no longer represents mainstream society and they’ve been doing nasty tactics for decades. Google Mike Willesee and the kidnapped child. 1993 Cangai siege - Wikipedia

Mass murderers? Where did you get that from. Guess we don't see much eastern state news in SA. And I've decided to watch Escape to the Chateau instead of televised news services.

Don’t disagree with you. It’s all rubbish and I don’t watch it. I’ve found myself only watching Aljazeera of late, and Covid barely rates a mention.

However, plenty of people must watch this mainstream trash and that’s what they are labeling people sick with covid who have spread it to others. It would be enough to make me think long and hard about what I’m telling authorities (who have regularly leaked info to the media) given the impact it can have.

Surely everyone realizes that the one or two who get caught are not the only ones? People are sick of it, the realistic mortality rate in this outbreak is 2 in 6000 (so roughly 0.03%) so compliance is just not going to happen on a wide scale. Naming and shaming people who do get caught is only going to lead to them providing misleading data.

That's how I'm feeling. Saving a few lives by restricting everyone's movements is worth it? I don't think so. Some people will argue, but it could be your family. I get that, but we're in a pandemic. You're just unlucky. It's like opposite of winning lotto. With lockdown 6.0 here in MEL, I am actually feeling the mental strain. Last weekend, I was just feeling down and even the things I enjoy doing normally didn't cheer me up.

Id agree. Of course it’s sad when people die, and maybe because I’ve spent a lot of my life involved with geris I’m a little desensitized. The simple fact is that virtually all deaths in this current outbreak were totally avoidable if those people had chosen to protect themselves. I’m a little over politicians using lines like “tragically, a 90 year old died”, rather than pointing out that the individual made a decision not to get vaccinated. We don’t seem to have this level of sympathy for other deaths.

Sadly, it will be a very long time before we even consider the other issues that these constant lockdowns have caused. Even contemplating everything I’ve lost in the last 18 months is heartbreaking, and plenty are in a far worse position than I.

We need every state at 80% though. NSW is on its own until every other state hits that mark. Some will get there before others.

Yes and perhaps time to start only reporting deaths for the ineligible or fully vaccinated (if they occur).

Locking down the vaccinated to protect the vulnerable who havent done enough to protect themselves is very unfair and is causing other harm.

Mistake that led to NSW virus crisis

NSW's top health official has revealed her team underestimated the spread of coronavirus in western Sydney in the days before the city locked down.

Chief health officer Dr Kerry Chant told a parliamentary hearing today that "with the benefit of hindsight", it would have been better to lock down sooner.

"With the benefit of hindsight, I think it's easy to say there was a greater risk of a seeding event in southwestern Sydney than was appreciated at the time it emerged," she said.

She was referring to a superspreader birthday party in western Sydney, which Health Minister Brad Hazzard said was the single event that put the city on a path to locking down.

Dr Chant revealed that after the spread of the Delta strain of coronavirus was first discovered in Sydney's eastern suburbs on June 16, she waited nine days before advising the government to lock down the area.

Its a pandemic give her a break… people make mistakes….

Oops. all may not be as it seems with 70%/80%

Australia could still be faced with lockdowns when the country reaches the 70 per cent vaccination target set by Prime Minister Scott Morrison, the Health Minister has conceded.

Earlier this month, national cabinet backed the vaccination target in order to move to the next phase of reopening. Under phase B of the national plan, Australians would be rewarded with greater freedoms, but the detail has yet to be worked out.

Speaking with Nine’s Today on Tuesday, Health Minister Greg Hunt said Australians could still expect to face lockdowns despite higher vaccination rates.

“The Doherty modelling has indicated if we have 70 per cent of full vaccination in Australia, the need for lockdowns is less, but it's not an absolute end to them,” he said.

Was she allowed to speak? In the clips I've seen Hazzard wouldn't even let her speak. "I'm the minister". I'll do the talking.

This was at a parliamentary committee today. So a bit more insight than the usual NSW authorities press conference at 11am daily.

The mortality rate is nearly 100 time higher then that should you actually catch COVID and not have been vaccinated.

That’s largely my point. I’m excluding those who died even though they were eligible for a vaccination. This is the aim with the 70/80% isn’t it? Everyone who has been offered the vaccine.

The current data is pretty clearly defining the vulnerable groups.

And do you think we will be let of jail to visit the temples of Angkor Wat, maybe wander around the Louvre, sit on a beach in Hawaii anytime in 2022?

I'm not so sure. 2023 yes, 2022 maybe, hopefully, pretty please with sugar on top Mr Prime Minister.

Oh dear for Newcastle

From the Mayor's FB page.
