Yep. There’s no “all in this together”. This is simply a case of “my way or the highway”. Government has done an amazing job of shutting down debate (and making protests illegal) and pushing one said agenda. As was said above; “love it or leave it”. While the elderly and vulnerable are shielded? Isn’t this where we are now? Elderly and vulnerable are vaccinated (or have had the chance to be) and the young are less and risk.

Leaving the country permanently is one of the exemptions available. Perhaps if some people (including a few Affers who posted the ways around) hdn't rorted the system to go on holiday to Europe or elsewhere - this would not be required?

But even those who could have used this exemption were refused frequently - way back from the start. Even people who held citizenship of another country and not Australian. And now, there has to be a compelling reason why the move has to be - now!

The context of the time was that too many people were visiting, and/or moving to, the regional areas.

Was it perfect? No.

Was it effective? Well how many regional cases happened after it? How many regional areas had to go into lockdown? Did it confine most of cases to Greater Melbourne?

More recently situation in Victoria is not as dire, and the population at large is more conditioned and willing to following direction to not leave Greater Melbourne.

It isn't the responsibility of the exiting state to check the credentials of people boarding flights for interstate, nor is the airlines responsibility. Every state has a completely different process and it is up to that state to patrol its own border and rules.

The thinking was that the private sector, within the State, would be able to cope as 'Contact tracing can handle it'. The private sector would not expand capacity without being underwritten by the State Govt. State Govt didn't do that.

Do you have proof of this.

Also - the private pathology providers get a very decent chunk of revenue for each test that is processed. Instead of blaming the state for not handing out even more money to pathology clinics, why aren't we asking as to why they didn't invest in higher testing capacity themselves?

That is not how the country works.

Perhaps you should ask why Victoria hasn't stationed their own Authorised Officers in NSW to check border permits prior to people boarding flights to Victoria, in a similar method to how pre-check works for TSA?

Hint: It's because they have zero jurisdiction outside the Victorian border.

False, state run pathology facilities have been running 24 hours, at time of Ruby princess only standard business hours. They have also brought on additional private partners.

The Premier called out the delays with a particular private partner last week and they subsequently brought on more capacity.

NSW using all existing machines (public & private) 24 x 7 can only process in the low 60,000s per day.

Incorrect, NSW did 69K on Christams Day within the state on a public holiday. Delays were not an issue until rates of testing got much much higher.

The inability to process the tests promptly has existed for over a month now & nothing has been done to increase NSW's processing capacity.

The surveillance reports dont support your claim, testing rates have been increasing week on week. w/e 10th July did better than w/e 3rd July

Noting that all of the deaths in the Liverpool Hospital cluster were in people over 60 who were not vaccinated despite being eligible for months with comorbidities (6 in geriatric ward and one in the urology ward).

LHDs are much larger than LGAs. But today Bayside LGA was added to areas of concern and is in South Eastern LHD. Sydney LHD includes Strathfield LGA and Burwood LGA which were also added today, plus Inner West which got a warning. Burwood, Strahfield and Kogarah have all been mentioned more than once over the past 2 weeks.

My wife has confirmed this and has said that he also went to Sydney to do some bouncer work for a couple of days. Of course, this is just heresay...

If the passengers didn't have a reason to be out they would have been fined and hopefully sent home. Never to get to the airport in the first place. If they had an exemption to travel, that permit should have been checked. False information should have then prevented them from traveling.

You know they provided false information and travelled on a green zone permit ?


Exactly how do you think anyone in authority in NSW would be able to prevent that? NSW has zero oversight of the Victorian permit system.
