Not to mention that the border is a river that can be swum across well away from any of those 55 crossings.

You would want to be a good swimmer, plus the Murray is very cold at this time of year ;)

But easy to cross on my my paddle board.

It was a fair bit warmer when we were last using it on the Murray though!

And maybe travelled there for school holidays. We will have another two weeks to see how this will pan out.
Which is why I am keeping my ban on my school principal friend :). I have told him he can come and join the games group 3 weeks after the end of the ACT school holidays :)

In QLD it has been admitted if you have tested positive for Covid and die it will be counted as a Covid death.that was announced with the false positive case in Blackwater as his death was to be counted as a Covid death no matter what the post mortem showed.
As well they are reporting 1 active case in QLD.however it is a 90 year old fellow who has been in hospital on the Gold Coast for 3 months.highly unlikely he is infectious so reallly not an active case.

On the lighter side a JQ flight arrived at MCY today from MEL.1 passenger immediately taken to hotel quarantine.

A heads up for any one in Melbourne who has booked to go to the Northern Territory from July 17. The whole of greater Melbourne has been declared a hotspot by NT and arrivals will need to quarantine for two weeks

In an effort to trying to break up the breathless number reporting just a little - did anyone see the ABC piece on how the Melbourne community is rallying around the public housing residents and putting together culturally appropriate food packages, toys for kids etc. They have been inundated with donations.

Thought it was really heartwarming seeing this community response!

We saw that too and it was fabulous. And to ensure social distancing people were pulling up in their cars, their boots full of items which were removed by others and then the people just drove away without exiting the car. Brilliant stuff.

What about the absolute legend of a lady that drove 30km to drop off her bootful of food? So kind! Really nice to see green shoots of humanity amongst all the vile news coverage putting people against each other for commercial gain..

It's the kind of logistics that everyone would want to be a part of. Grab a bag full of oranges, Cans of appropriate foods, toiletries, kids toys, etc etc and simply drive in, empty and drive off.

There is a lot of good news around about what is happening at the "towers"

Steam was rising from both ears this evening and I was screaming at the TV. Ch2 ABC news at 7pm!!!! Inaccurate, biased, alarmist, divisive gutter tabloid style journalism. I expect better from "our ABC". Anybody who watched the Premiers' live interviews and then watched that news broadcast would have seriously dismayed at the ridiculous statements in the reporting and the blatant attempts to set off a wildfire of public resentment and fear. Everything that is being put in place to support those people and anything with a smell of hope was totally ignored.

Local restaurants are apparently also making fresh culturally appropriate food and delivering it to the towers - as far away as Brunswick which is lovely, they interviewed some volunteers who just put the call out on Instagram to their restaurant followers to bring them ingredients and they did the cooking in their restaurant, then people volunteered to drive it over!

The stories coming out about assisting etc are great. I wonder if it can be extended to support anyone positive who has to be isolated as well for 14 days, wherever they live. Then there might be less need for those people to break their isolation.

Yes there is lots of good stuff going on behind the scenes by by the public and by organisations. Food and goods donations, fundraisers , translations, etc.
Unfortunately the news often want to feature a few disgruntled people and with 3000 odd people who have been placed in lockdown you will not surprisingly find some unhappy people.

The Royal Melbourne Hospital together with St Johns Ambulance has just established a special dedicated Covid 19 30-bed “urgent care clinic” nearby at the Showgrounds just in case it is required.

Another major hospital has just reconfigured its wards just in case there is a sudden surge.

Coles closed one of its nearby supermarkets to the public so that it could be used to prepare 2000 packages of 5 days worth of groceries for each residence to be delivered tonight.

etc etc

Bugger, that’s not good.

Yes my daughter's hospital (not this one as I don't know what is happening at The Northern) further tightened protocols on Saturday. In part this is in case any staff arrive infected.

ABC Victorian political reporter is saying that today's numbers will be announced after lunch, but the caseload increase is in the order of around 190. Apparently a crisis meeting of Victorian cabinet is occurring right now...

Sobering news to take in as I, like many throughout the day, get ready to head out to work!

Are we talking full Melbourne lockdown?
