Queensland records one new mystery local case of COVID-19, infectious in the community for 10 days

Queensland has recorded another new community case of COVID-19, a woman in her 50s who was infectious in the community for 10 days.

Might not have a happy ending!

...where most NSW government pandemic decision are decided by a Crisis Cabinet. The only person's seat in Crisis Cabinet that will not change is the Deputy Premier. Others may move and the composition may alter.
Wow, things are moving fast with the resignation announced today of the Deputy Premier as well!

It's pretty concerning that there is virtually no leadership continuity and how this might impact on the COVID Road map.

Edited to add: Moderators, if this is deemed political, please remove. I am really interested in how COVID road map will proceed with such sigificant political changes.

Yes, without getting too political I did hear Perrottet say that he may not adhere to the road map if he gets the job. Will be interesting to see how it plays out

He stated the other day that he doesn't see the point of home quarantine for international travel at all. NSW will definitely be first no quarantine arrivals, and likely before middle of 2022. Wakadoo!

Seems to be true. I’m thinking her clients may not get tested so the CHO’s comfort with high testing rates may be a little misplaced.
Should certainly be a test of QR check-in compliance... :)

On TV, reported National cabinet meetings cancelled., and Mr Barr and others reporting in meeting, not on agenda - deliveries aka lastminuteitis. That QLD will SMS people pathetically urging them to be vaccinated against covid. Hmm, should be done more widely. I re-read the NSW roadmap, and 80% fully vaxxed will work for me. When ACT reaches 90-94% fully vaccinated, discussions on International arrival quarantine should be unnecessary. The international airlines say they need certainty to lay on extra flights.

I can see NSW going no quarantine and I personally agree with that, flights from within country without covid zero as a goal will have people on planes / in airports with some covid floating around no reason to treat international people any different than someone going from NSW to VIC.

However ... I dont see Barr signing up to that and think ACT will enforce home Q out of some 'abundance of boredom / caution / pretending to do something'

Do you mean for international flights into the ACT? Do we even think that’s going to be a thing for a while anyway?

Won’t be a record for long.

Wait until the restrictions start easing.

Clearly the higher and still climbing vaccination rates are going to be the key, everywhere.

We are also finding heaps of completely asymptomatic kids in both NSW and VIC…

I have a feeling this is how QLD will come unstuck…. And probably the rest of the states too!

Well not wanting to be accused of sleeping on the job again…!

Australia buys COVID treatment pills ahead of approval for new medicine

Australia will buy 300,000 courses of an experimental antiviral pill in anticipation of the drug regulator approving it as a coronavirus treatment early next year.

More exposure sites for Brisbane.

A lot more massage parlours 😆

Westfield Chermside outlets, Brisbane massage parlours added to exposure list

Numerous outlets within Westfield Chermside, several Brisbane massage parlours and day spas, and a popular central Queensland airport are the latest additions to the COVID-19 exposure site list.

Queensland has recorded four local COVID-19 cases from almost 60,000 tests over the past three days.
