I do not really want to get COVID but I also do not really want COVID to rule my life either. If I have to be home for 14 days, then so be it. It's bound to happen sooner or later. I am lucky to have sick leave. Also I am tested daily as part of work, so it's highly possible I will know I have COVID before I even have a recognisable symptom.

If boosters are announced 6 months after 2nd dose for all, then I will hold off my booster until approx 2-3 weeks before commencing my overseas trip.

Thanks, yes it's understandable as it's day 4 that I'm in jail. Not sure if it will make sense by say day 11 of 14 days.

They need to move away from 14 days to more risk based assessment or otherwise testing will fall off a cliff as people with minor symptoms avoid testing, particularly if they are in a vulnerable category where they don't have access to sick leave.

..and covid app usage has fallen off the bus..
Hardly anyone logs in to Bunnings , 10 of us went to a local restaurant yesterday.. none of our group logged in.
I might have if there had been a prominent sign in point but in the event I forgot also… mea culpa...
I surmise that folks have now worked out that app use =tracing = home quarantine … why would we do that ??

I have to agree. I appreciate the sense in QRA check in, but I relate to Seat 0B and civil disobedience.
Check in and fourteen days soft, even if you know you went nowhere near another person. Don't check in and when the location pops up as a risk venue, you consider whether you are actually at risk.

The only thing that will trip is up will be credit card tracing. Cash seems to be king now.

Given how disorganised NSW Health appear to be (I'm living inside the system right now), I doubt they'll bother pulling the merchant records.

The whole trawling through CCTV thing also applies only to Covid-zero jurisdictions where the movement of truck drivers occupies police resources.

This will be the only remaining tail of COVID... the potential of getting screwed overseas if you test "positive". I've managed to score a third jab this week before I head off overseas next, so I'm hoping that'll add enough protection 😵‍💫

I think you just have to acknowledge it is a possibility. I'm not overly worried, hopefully I will get all the documentation in order, and after the fact submit a request to my employer to replace the relevant number of days annual leave with sick leave as I will almost certainly be symptomatic and unwell.

Then there is the fake test route which while unethical, if the penalty is significant enough one can understand why it may be an attractive option. However I also wouldn't want to run the risk of having a "fake" test that the airline sniffs out on check in. The "better" airlines demand results certificates with verifiable QR codes.

Or just plain diligence and self-interest. The 2 Bunnings I go to here in sthn Tas are also diligent in checking the checkin-ing. But contrary to experience in a comment a few posts above, folk here are very good at using the QR codes, notwithstanding no local cases for a year or more (no scares). And if they initially forget, there are prompts to remind them. Server at a restaurant will ask one or two times if everyone at a table has checked in ... the gym supervisor will periodically ask people in the gym if they have checked in ... etc. QR code signs throughout a premesis, not just at entrance.

My pet peeve. I don't think I've been anywhere in SA where there are QR codes throughout the store. So everyone has to clog up the entrance way. But well, my habits are changing now. On the other hand Ive never had to show the QR check in to anyone, and maybe one in 20 times I've been asked if I've done it. If that. No community spread for 3 months, all wearing masks inside, and even the 'nasty' positive interstate truckies didn't spread it anywhere.

My pet peeve is how many stores post the QR codes at groin height at entry where it should be at shoulder height for it to scan when the phone is held comfortably and the scan window can be viewed to pick it up quickly. If I have to bend my back or crouch to get a working scan angle my habit is to just walk on.

This also applies where the QF code has been put in a poorly lit place such as the corridor leading up to the QF J lounge at SYD airport - it is just too dark to scan.
 
A funny story I heard way back. An older mother asked her daughter what she should do with all the photos she’d taken of all the various QR code’s.

Funny and sad at the same time. Sad that the older generation are not keeping up with new tech.
