Tassie has now scrapped the December pre arrival test for those from low risk States
Ugh. There goes the neighbourhood 😉😊

Edit - still in place for NSW, VIC, ACT.

TAS hits 90% first dose

Apparently a woman tested positive in Darwin after arriving from Cairns. Wonder how that will unfold.

This case does appear to relate to the original one. As per the ABC "Chief Minister Michael Gunner says she is a close contact of the original case and is unvaccinated, having only received her first dose."

Ah right, this wasn't clear when I read the news originally. Thanks for the clarification.

An aviator might be able to discuss the requirements for a CASA Class 1 Medical certificate (which is required for an ATPL license)

I believe it is CASA who issues the certificate, not the Dr, and medical exams are done by DAME - designated aviation medical examiners?
Cabin crew are not licenced by CASA. I presume they would have medical requirements within their award.

I cannot imagine any medical condition that a pilot could have that would preclude wearing a mask. On the other hand, anyone who won't, I'd consider a fruit loop, and so should be kept out of coughpits anyway.

Frankly I could not give a single hoot if the pilots are or are not wearing a mask up front. Could not possibly care less. Everyone in the cabin removes theirs to eat and drink. There is zero risk involved except to their colleague(s).

Another local case for QLD (didn’t see this posted yet)

Also the latest amazing intelligent decision - we don’t believe modelling anymore apparently (but not in a good way) sigh… I wonder why…. Cough spending millions of taxpayers money on an unneeded quarantine facility cough got to fill it up….

Another local covid case as Qld rejects Doherty data, bans quarantine free international travel

Queensland has recorded one new case of COVID-19 in Goondiwindi, while Cairns, on alert after a local woman tested positive in the Northern Territory on Friday night, is in the clear.

The Goondiwindi case, a woman in her 20s, was a close contact of one of the three people who tested positive in the border community this week.

The QLD government has also rejected modelling by the Doherty institute showing that at 80% double vaccination, fully vaxxed international travellers should be able to safely enter the community without the need to quarantine.

The ACT numbers today are 13 new cases, with one person in hospital (in ICU and ventilated). Numbers have been hovering around mid - high teens with some better days and some worse. The latest transmission sites though seem to be schools with 11 schools listed. With 95% of over 12s now doubled vaxxed, we should be hanging out for the 5 - 11 year olds.
And of course we are still considered 'unclean' by some (unnamed) states.

What about in case of emergency where an oxygen mask is required?

The woman from Cairns who tested positive in Darwin is the origin case . She flew to SA drove to Victoria for 4 days then flew back to Cairns and made a false declaration on her NT entry permit

Oopsie daisies, it is really hard to keep track of everything these days :)

Only time will tell but I suspect she's lied to SA and QLD in addition to the NT.

Driving from VIC to SA should be impossible right now unless you fall into the essential worker category or the border bubble (none of which she seems to fall into). Addtionally she spend a few days in Cairns so obviously entered QLD by just claiming she'd been in SA and not VIC.
