Not as silly as some OS countries. In Germany you have to be double vaxxed to access Euthanasia services. Obviously very important where they are going.

But the restrictions are to protect the staff working there not those who are wanting to die. So not that silly given we have similar mandates for health settings.

Wouldn’t unvaccinated Germans who want euthanasia be happy to catch Covid?

But vaccinated people may have an asymptomatic infection and they can transmit that.
If worried the staff could insist on a RAT test 1-2 days before and on the day of the procedure. Would be much better than insisting on a vaccine certificate and no test.

We seem to import from China, US, EU, India, Africa.

If ScoMo is serious about Made in Australia, when are we going to re-start local manufacturing. Home grown Covid please. We don’t want the dodgy imported stuff
Who's going to buy Aus made when it'll NEVER be cost effective.
$5p/h to whatever get we pay manu staff P/h.

Uh oh... Look out QLD...

Health authorities in Queensland have declared a “first in the world” strain of the Omicron variant has been discovered as leaders continue to mull over a response to the evolving outbreaks.

I guess they'll have to start sending out 'home' kits, for the DIY experience.

Which is what places like the UK have had for over a year.

If we are going to live with the virus we need to have easy rapid testing from home. Community PCR testing should only be for people symptomatic and or having had a positive RAT test.

If we’re going to live with the virus, testing needs to stop. We don’t routinely test healthy people for any other virus. Even bad ones.

And here is a reason why vaccination certificates and pre testing are not going to keep every one safe.
An Oslo Christmas party where everyone was double vaxxed and all had a negative pre test. Result -60 of 100 guests have tested positive. Some with Omicron.

You can now buy at covid 19 test kits at supermarkets and chemists. They are hot-sellers and so often are being sold out as fast as they restock.

I agree but it is quite common to test for influenza and some other respiratory viruses when people are admitted to hospital with respiratory symptoms.

Just not in SA. Because we have control freaks in charge and we are just kids who need to be mothered it seems.

Yes but only if they have symptoms, not because they happen to live in the same city as someone who has tested positive for influenza.

Hospitals may test people if they have flu-like symptoms, but if you are going in for a knee op and dont have any respiratory systems s hospital would never test you for Flu just because.

Omicorn had a lovely harbourside cruise in Sydney too, taking in the sites. Loves it here.

And yet there are still no reports of anything other than some mild cold like symptoms in a fraction of positive tests, the rest being asymptomatic and only found because of arrival or close contact testing.

Omicron has yet to cause any serious illness to warrant any concern. Meanwhile all the people in hospital and ICU etc have Delta.

All these new testing and quarantine rules in SA and Qld are because of Omicron are nonsensical given its Delta that causes actual illness.

Yes, the only evidence (limited) so far is that it is milder. We have two variants in QLD, perfect one day, multiplying the next lol

Oh yes not disputing that. But the key thing is “admitted to hospital”. Test away there. But we don’t need to keep testing regular, healthy people who are just committing the horrific act of wanting to go to Adelaide.

May have been at the titty bar in Petersham as well. And a possible candidate at the local government election, based on the panicked Facebook posts!

Really seeing all the highlights of Sydney. We hope it enjoyed the cricket today at the Gabba too probably!
