Looks like Omicron is off and running now in WA.
If so, then not opening on Feb 5 may now be a largely pointless exercise.
Could be quite the own goal. Even with a closed border, couldn’t stop an outbreak.

I’m stocked up on that German dish, schadenfreude.Just means it's time to stock up on popcorn
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they quickly opened up to save the embarrassment of not being able to control anything despite blaming NSW for absolutely everything in their initial response to Omicron including blaming them for the sun coming up....
Lets just be clear for the record that WA now has the fastest growing case load in the whole country, by far. Infact the other states are now plateauing / decreasing
“When NSW didn’t crack down on COVID in June, they said ‘our gold standard contact tracing system will manage it"
“Then it got away from them because their gold standard contact tracing system didn’t work and therefore they’ve had mass lockdowns, they’ve had the economy tank, they’ve had hundreds of people die as a consequence of that decision.”
No! Tas has a bid for its own team in. AFL report on the Tas business case was positive. Perth and Freo can wither with the decision maker.
...
AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements
Just for this year. If Westralia wants to go they can then be booted out of the AFL after the season.
I also fully support the TAS bid.
I love this thread.
You can actually imagine what religion posters are.
Boags vs Cascade? You mean AFL or League, Holden vs Ford, Launceston vs Hobart vs NW coast?
Actually basing the two W.A. teams in Tasmania would be a great idea. Freo based in Launceston and Perth in Hobart. The rivalry between them would never be greater, as it would become a Tasmanian North versus South thing! PERfect (tm @JohnM )

The AFL will need to make some decisions soon for scheduling whilst dealing with the sovereign risk that the Westralian government has created. It honestly did make sense to remove all AFL games and teams from WA as of about week ago, but WA now has sustained and increasing transmission does it really make sense? That shiny new stadium needs to make some money!
There is no sovereign risk to the AFL, they have a direct line to anyone that makes decisions. They are by and large a law unto themselves. The AFL will need to make some decisions soon for scheduling whilst dealing with the sovereign risk that the Westralian government has created.
Can you land a plane there perhaps? It honestly did make sense to remove all AFL games and teams from WA as of about week ago, but WA now has sustained and increasing transmission does it really make sense? That shiny new stadium needs to make some money!
You know what they say about Launceston?Boags vs Cascade?
13 in WA today - one in the Greater Bunbury area
WA Health has reported 13 new local COVID-19 cases and two travel-related cases to 8pm yesterday.Of the 13 new local cases, 10 are linked to the Coolbellup cluster, including eight household contacts and two close contacts. One other local case is a household contact from the Safety Bay cluster, and one other case attended Willagee IGA. The 13th case relates to the Greater Bunbury region, and remains under investigation. It is believed this case was infectious in the community and contact tracers are working to identify potential exposure sites.
Don’t forget a (not too) quick visit to the massage techniciansOmicron having a lovely time in WA, seeing the sights!
