Did the ABS also report on how many didn't die with flu?
That was not the point of the report.
There are other ABS reports that discuss excess deaths in detail, but the report for the more recent period is not out.
We have seen it claimed in this thread that people were mainly not dying due to Covid, but just dying with Covid. I think the report provides information on this that people can choose to take on board or not.
As far as I am concerned, it is the excess deaths figures that will tell the tale. I know from my own medico friends they are worried that flu will sweep away large numbers as Covid retreats, unless vaccination rates for flu are stronger than usual.
Large numbers or the usual numbers for the flu? Which vary from year to year as some flu seasons are much worse than others. If you mean much larger than that variation, did your medico friends indicate why?
I doubt there is anyone that would believe that the flu is not coming back.
Flu cases, and flu deaths, will rise.
And it will not matter so much if Covid retreats or not. It just means that both the flu and Covid will be out and about.
With international travel returning, and less measures impacting mixing flu cases will rise and in turn the adverse health outcomes that it generates will also return.
What Covid does in future will overlap, just as it does with all other diseases.
We are all hoping that the future variants keep getting milder. They may or may not.
In the interim it appears that being triple dosed will help to minimise the number of severe health outcomes that Covid generates. As the % of triple dosed keeps rising which is excellent.
Living with Covid also means Living with the Flu. That is a given.
