Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Well, I for one will be very happy if it does turn into a non-event of epic proportions!

Certainly - but when will they ever let go of the state of emergency when we never get the dreadful peak they have grimly been forecasting for the last couple of weeks as being so closely imminent? 🤔

I'm still waiting for my delivery...
Mine took over 6 weeks to arrive (posted 4 weeks after order) so I sent them back because it was the middle of summer and I had no idea what temperature they had been stored at. They were being assholes so I just did a charge back on PayPal and all sorted

I’m referring to the freebies being handed out by the WA Gov’t.

I did a charge back to NAB for similar reasons - poor delivery of RATs and NAB ignored it. Called them a month later and they couldn't find my report but weirdly 😏 did have my reference number. So I reported it again. Nothing. Called them up again and they knew nothing, again, and when I tried to escalate it that section said they could do nothing and put me back to the original number. So I reported NAB to the ombudsman. Two days later I received an email from NAB asking for more details re the Jan claim (invoice etc). I simply flicked them the same email docs I'd sent them two weeks earlier.

Just now I received an email from the company I'd bought them from and said they were processing my refund. Except NAB have already completed the charge back. It was for 50 RATS so $495. But the company was so dishonest and NAB didn't do themselves any favours either. It was a Business Credit Card and given the business account is extremely in the Black they should have acted. Hope the ombudsman fines them.

Ours arrived fairly quickly but they were sending regionals out first. Took 2 days from when they notified us they were in the post. They are now automatically sending another 10 pack to all those who registered for the first pack. Not sure when that will be but they seem to be handing them out in lots of public spaces as well. At least we don't have to troll pharmacies looking for them.

O/T sorry, but I also have found NAB rather indolent with charge backs.

Ombudsman has no authority to fine. If you go through the whole process with them you sort of realise they don’t have a lot of authority at all… they do however charge the banks for their service. Initial referral is just a straight charge and the complaint is sent to a more competent division of the bank (generally onshore), next stage up goes to a case manager which starts building the bill up and if that achieves nothing, it’s off to a decision which is a pricey exercise (and can set a precedent that the bank doesn’t want; as it’s publicly published).

The Big 4 like to resolve things after the first referral.

IME pharmacies and supermarkets now have plentiful stock of RATs no longer any need to source online.

The WA Gov’t has squillions that are being handed out for free. They were even handing them out at the footy.

However, the delivery I registered for some time ago has yet to materialise.

Well, it was for poor delivery of RAT so I figured JT would give me a break.

They sure do. Which is why I was happy the company didn't deliver in Jan. I don't need them anymore.

WA is turning into a non-event of epic proportions...

No wonder they won't reveal how their modelling guesses were derived. 🤨

Well it’s been revealed in the court case where it DID NOT come from - the CHO and WA Health.

So someone clearly made it up. And I think we all know who.

I find that I can’t take the daily COVID numbers too seriously any more, now that the self-reporting of RATs is in the mix. No-one can have any idea of how many are not reported.

I just look at hospitalisation/ICE and death figures now.
Then you might look for active being a relevant snapshot number. Hospitalisation and ICU have some (around 1-2 week lag) relationship to active.

Given last week’s small bump, one might expect a small bump in hospital and ICU from next week. Unless Omicron-plus is milder still.

Looks like the new SA Premier is going to give the SA CHO a good kick regarding their ludicrous close contact rules too based on his press conference - given they’ve done absolutely nothing to change the course of the virus spread. Good news!

Hopefully but I’ll save the cheering for when it actually happens. He is well known for reneging on promises
