Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Hang on. In one breath you’re advocating for permanent mask mandates, then in the next saying nurses are sick of PPE and suggesting we should do the opposite? I can’t keep up!

You really can’t work that out? The public should be wearing masks to keep us out of hospitals to give the poor nurses a break. They’re sick of it!

Sick of what? Doing their jobs or wearing masks?

So your position is the public wear masks everywhere but then nurses in hospital settings don’t?

More proof your panic is unwarranted and that if you are fearful the onus is on you to wear a mask that will protect you i.e. a N95 not a useless surgincal one.

Mandating masks saw many wear cloth masks or ill fitting surgical masks multiple times, never washing/replacing or having them on their chins etc so in fact doing nothing to protect you.

Ummm… it’s not panic. It’s just simple daily precautions. These steps are really easy. Like wearing a seatbelt when flying or driving.

No. If people didn’t end up in hospital with covid the nurses wouldn’t have to wear full PPE.

There's more than just Covid that creates the need for PPE.

Seatbelts are proven to be an effective safety measure in vehicles. We know that the use of surgical and nannas home made cloth masks is nothing more than window dressing.

But you believe that people wearing said masks will eradicate covid and therefore nurses would not have to wear PPE?

Just an observation re hospitals (I know some of the discussion above was about Covid specific wards). I was in Hobart Private recently for a scheduled operation; there for 2 nights.

No testing on admission. No taking of details walking through the door. Mask on.

Up to the ward, shown room. Nurses wore masks, all the time, no PPE other than that. In my room I didn't have to wear a mask. Doctor when he came pulled his mask down to chat. When I walked around the corridors after the op, I often forgot my mask. No one pulled me up, but when I realised I went back and put it on (just a courtesy, if nothing else).

All very sensible I think.

You're wasting your time with logic and reason in this forum mate..

I take nothing as gospel but I am pro vaccination and will get a variant tweaked 4th dose if/when available. Just as I get the flu shot every year and keep my other travel jabs up to date.

I have no problems with vacicne mandates, happy for them to be extended to other vaccines for diseases/viruses that circulate in Aus too.

People can choose to be unvaccinated, but they are then also choosing to be ineligible for certain types of employment.

If they really valued their job, they roll up their sleeve and get a free jab.

We are not going to agree. But most aussies dont have an issue with being trippel vaxed (you need only look at the take-up) so doubtful you are going to convince many to skip their booster.
First the flu vaccine is much more effective than the covid vaccines are now. Yet there are very few flu vaccine mandates. I didn't need to have had the flu vaccine as a physician treating flu patients but I did have PPE.

Many of us on here have had covid even though triple vaxxed. Some indeed after there 4th dose -which by the way the Israelis have shown to not having a significant reduction in infections after 4 weeks.

Young Children are far more prone to have severe illness withe flu than they are with covid. A very tiny minority. Yet teachers in Victoria have to be triple vaxxed for covid but no flu vaccine mandate even though the flu could be fatal for young people.Just doesn't make sense.

Unfortunately you are a long way down the slippery slope to Authoritarianism.

Yeah I know. I think the majority here have a bit of logical thinking ability, but yes a handful just can’t let go. Sad really.

I think there’s a handful who would like up for a booster every 4 weeks!

Again, that seems contrary to all medical advisories… masks+social distancing+cleans hands = effective to help prevent the spread.

Now that is a simply absurd statement. Ive not called for people to be held down and forceably vaccinated China style just to own their choices and consequences of their choices.

You are completely ignoring the personal (poor imo) choice of those who lost their jobs to knowingly avoid getting a jab when they knew it was a job requirement. They chose to not get vaccinated and therefore have chosen to not be eligible to be employed by an employer who has the requirement.

The numbers aftected are tiny, and obviously had no real passion for teaching or would get jabbed. I come from a family full of teachers and can tell you objection to covid vaccination is far from a hot topic of conversation in the staff room. There is far more concern re pay rises and teacher to student ratios, debate over naplan and complaints about nightmare parents.

Show me a study that proves poorly worn single use surgical masks or nannas cloth jobs are effective.

Regardless, you’re position remains that masks will eradicate this and nurses will no longer have to wear PPE?

How many of these people who lost a job through not having a jab had the mandate for vax in their employment contract when they started? I venture for teachers, very few or it would/should have included the flu which is most dangerous to children. So for most I opine they didn't choose the job knowing - that rule was dumped on them afterwards.

Yes, I accept medical advice that simple covid protocols can help prevent transmission.

Employment requirements change all the time, provided that ample notice is given this is legal.

There are staff in aged care that do have to get flu vax, yet may not have had that explicitly noted in thier original contract.

All staff (and any vendor or supplier) at my current employer need to be tripple vaxed to attend any of corporate sites, just like they add new mandatory IT security or HR or safety training if there is an incident There are clauses that cover the ability to introduce new compliance requirements outside of a new EBA or individual contract provided notification procedures are followed.

If you refuse to do mandatory training or wear safety gear or get drug tested or breathalised or vaccinated following notification your can be terminated.

Anyway we are seeing anti vax sentiment creeping into this forum, which is sad given high rates of vaccination is reason despite higher circulating virus we are seeing few hospitalisations soley due to covid and a cfr that is miniscule.

Nobody.

Yeah there really should be some form of censorship for these anti-vax types, peddling their mis-information and propaganda..

Anti vaccine mandate arguments are totally different to being an Anti Vaxxer
So we have the situation in Victoria where 420 teachers lost their jobs for not being triple vaxxed. Yet next door in SA the government got rid of the mandate for teachers as has the ACT.

Not all Anti Vaxxers are uninformed and not passionate about their jobs. I personally know a Gastroenterologist and a Respiratory Physician who are not vaccinated and both are passionate about their work.

On top of all that the Human Rights Commission in QLD believes vaccine mandates for teachers are unlawful.

OMG just dropped into this thread after quite some time away from it for probably 3-4 months. Feel like I’m doing Groundhog Day. Same people arguing the same things as they were last time I visited. And the time before. And the time before that.

Probably time to recognise that by now peoples views are entrenched and no trotting out the same points for the 108th time is going to change them.! 🤣

Or have bots taken over several accounts and just putting in stock standard posts consistent with previous ones?

Except that you have recently been arguing on multiple threads against people getting boosters (which is their choice if they want one) and recommendaing against kids getting the jab so definite anti-vax more so than anti mandate and funny because you yourself are tripple vaxed.

So we have the situation in Victoria where 420 teachers lost their jobs for not being triple vaxxed.

Again a personal choice on their part with a known consequence. You want to work in a specific job or industry then meet the compliance criteria. They are free to move to SA or the ACT if they like. Noting however that individual schools and companies can impose their own rules over and above any state government mandate. Of course you get the govenrment you vote for - Andrews has over reached throughout the pandemic declaring SOE when none was needed.

Dont want to get a jab, then dont but you must accept that you may not have the freedoms that other have.

Lots of poor choices limit your life options.
