BREAKING NEWS
New cluster on the NSW South Coast reaches eight COVID-19 cases

Eight people have now tested positive for COVID-19 after visiting a club on the NSW South Coast, with fears the venue could become the next virus cluster.

The cases come after a Sydney father and son, who unknowingly had the virus, dined at the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club's bistro on July 13. The club will now be closed for two weeks for a deep clean.

NSW Health announced late on Sunday that four new cases had been linked to the club including one staff member, two cases who dined at the club and one case who is a close contact of the previously reported cases.

Not content with hosting most of the AFL comp and the netball comp (AFL one day, netball the next), AP is now attempting a NSW land grab. ABC radio reporting that AP is writing to NSW Premier to move the current border posts south to the Tweed River to make things easier for NSW border residents.

I don't think Qld wants to have more of NSW but they want to move the border where cars are stopped and checked.

The border runs along a street, so can be tricky if you work on one side and live on the other side of the border.

So far I remain unmasked (although well prepared).
One of my survival strategies has been to use Apple pay to avoid touching a keypad pregnant with opportunity.
It is a wonderful process, fast and clean with a record of expenditure on the phone.
A mask means I will have enter a passcode and as the apple pay is time contingent on the nfd.. it may not be easy to do...
Anybody use apple pay without face recognition ?

I use fingerprint. I dont have face recognition on mine. If the app is open and I paywave it goes through anyway.

Probably one of the more sensible things I've heard around border restrictions. It would actually be sensible to include border towns in the same state (one or the other) for the purpose of managing isolation between states. Albury/Wodonga, Echuca/Moama etc. It would even make a huge amount of sense to include Broken Hill in the SA zone.

Which state is enforcing the border? If it is Queensland, I imagine it would be easier from a legal perspective to move the checks north into Queensland, rather than south into NSW..

I am most looking forward to Gladys' response :)

Queensland. NSW border is fully open there.

NSW records 20 new cases as COVID-19 clusters grow, spark fear of second wave in Sydney

NSW Health has updated the case count on its website ahead of Premier Gladys Berejiklian's press conference, revealing there have been 20 new cases of coronavirus confirmed in the state during the 24-hour period to 8pm on Sunday night.

It is likely four of these were the cases connected to Batemans Bay Soldiers Club reported on Sunday evening. Infected cases have also attended venues in Paddington in inner Sydney, as well as another Westfield Mall in Western Sydney.

We expect to receive more details at 11am, the Premier will now appear at alongside Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant, with rumours more restrictions are looming for Sydney.

The issue with moving the border inside NSW is that then NSW police have to man it, as Qld police dont have jurisdiction - and it is the Qld not the NSW border that is closed. Better would be to move the border further north into Qld and treat the Qld border towns as part of NSW.

Simialrly, as NSW has closed the border to Vic, our southern border towns should be treated as part of Vic - with border being moved a few kms north of Albury etc.

So am I. She has resisted setting the border checkpoints north of Albury-Wodonga which would have made life much easier for those border residents and she could have done that unilaterally. So I don't expect that AP will get a positive response as it would be legally questionable for Queensland police to enforce the border in NSW even though it would be more practical than the current arrangement.
