They need a mandatory reporting system where Drs have strongly recommended. Which wouldnt be everyone but just those who reported more than the normal sniffle etc. Like a fever. .
Covid 19 is a notifiable disease and if the GP suspected it it should be notified to Public Health officials. This is the relevant part of the guidelines.

On the same day as notification of a confirmed, probable, or suspect case, begin follow up investigation and, where applicable, notify your central state or territory communicable diseases unit.
PHU staff should be available to contribute to the expert assessment of patients under investigation as possible cases on request from hospital clinicians or general practitioners.
Response procedure
Case investigation
The response to a notification will normally be carried out in collaboration with the clinicians managing the case, and be guided by the COVID-19 PHU checklist (Appendix C) and the COVID-19 investigation form (currently pending).

But even if unsure I have known cases where an anonymous call to authorities has occurred.

And on tonight's Channel 7 news Brisbane a little bit more info on the 19 year olds. They travelled to Melbourne with the intent of stealinng from high end fashion places plus attended an illegal party.Police a treating this as a criminal investigation.

That kind of explains why they are breaching the rules.

Except that in Melbourne 99% of Nursing homes are privately run.

You better let Dr Sutton (and the Premier) know he misinformed the public at the covid update presser as he stated that 10% of Aged Care facilities in Victoria are state run.

A contract for quarantine security....investigation by 730 report

So now we know, it was not an oversight and no/or poorly worded contract by the government. The contract specifically stated they couldn't use subcontractors without permission, they must provide PPE, the staff must wear PPE and they must train their staff.

Now to wait for the excuses from the security companies involved.

Victoria is more than just Melbourne. The two statements (99% of facilities in Melbourne are privately run and 10% in Victoria are state run) might not be incompatible.

excuses from the security companies involved.

Given the gravity of the situation , closing up shop or receivership must look attractive atm….
Who was the lucky corporate entity ?

True.

But the figures he quoted in the context of a covid update 2 days ago were 460 homes and 10% of them state run.

Noting that the state gov ran 187 homes in the state in 2015 then the 10%/460 is not compatible and more likely to be referring to the centres in the GMMA

Willing to be corrected with those that can quote a better source

It’s probably not appropriate to name in this forum.....look around, I’m sure you will find it
Not that they deserve any consideration but it is mainstream media anyway. I think from reading there will be more information to come once investigations are completed.

Some of the information at first glance seems at significant variance and conflicting, but I'm sure that info will come out in the fullness of time.

Several repeated media reports of 3 security companies of which MSS has already fessed up as one that were involved.

However a quote from the enquiry into the quarantine debacle says "is examining what went wrong in the hotel quarantine program and has so far named six hotels, 10 state government agencies and eight security companies as being "of interest".

Perhaps the 3 security companies are the only ones that were involved with the 2 problem hotels or the other security companies were subcontracting to the head three contractors.

Will be interesting to see the picture as it evolves.

Except I heard earlier today it wasnt the players but the family members travelling with them, assuming its the same situation.

I'm surprised that you would be surprised (well that anyone would be surprised for that matter). ;)
