- 0 in the period 8-14 days
- 2 in the period 15-28 days

NSW Health seemed to have now settled on reporting 1 mystery case for yesterday‘s new cases.

Not sure what is happening because there were 3 cases that still should be in the 15-28 day period.

Test volumes numbers still very high with today's 19,850 test results.

Sutton mentioned on today's positive test that similar results have been common in the past, but have not been highlighted due the overall cases numbers per day. It stands out now as it is the only cases. And on recent days with lows daily cases other similar tests results have also stood out.

Comment: Likely to be reclassified, and results like today's test would be one reason why you often saw some cases reclassfied downwards on many days.

Went grocery shopping this morning in Melbourne. Car traffic way up, as it has been this week.

Looks like the quiet roads are gone. It feels odd when out driving now having to give way, wait to turn etc ;)

On mask wearing and distancing. The two grocers I went to was all pretty good, and observing the pedestrians I passed while driving it was good as well.

Hospital active cases in Vic now are only 2. So a different donut is probably not far away ;)

Aged care and healthcare worker actives cases are also very low now.

Vic also now has less active cases in hospital than in NSW, both in total and also per capita.
It is also lower than in Qld which has 3 in hospital.

NSW is still bringing people in from overseas some of whom may end up in hospital.

A huge achievement for Victoria but the state comparisons aren’t really helping any more, it’s not a state of origin event... we need to take the gamification of the numbers out.

Imagine if the numbers were reported on a national basis and compared to other countries instead to reflect what we have achieved as a NATION.

But then surely we’d be questioning why we are one of the only countries in the world with internal border closures, for a total of 2 cases on the worlds largest island.

NO WONDER QLD PREMIER CLOSED BORDERS TO GREATER SYDNEY BASED ON THESE NUMBERS, THE DEATHTRAP OF GREATER SYDNEY COULD WIPE OUT ALL OF QUEENSLAND. HOSPITALS OVERRUN IN DAYS AND MARTIAL LAW WOULD BE ENFORCED. BRISBANE WOULD BE LIKE THE SETTING OF THE WALKING DEAD.

From today's Vic DHHS Report. Department of Health and Human Services Victoria | Coronavirus update for Victoria - 31 October 2020
Media Release
31 October 2020

Salient sections:

In the Deer Park area, the Department is continuing to investigate a case reported yesterday and is encouraging people with any symptoms to visit a local testing site. The case is being managed as a new infection pending further tests, with 21 close contacts identified and in quarantine.

................................
My comment: The case below is the young child (infected by her mother) who attended Goodstart Early Learning before she tested positive (so may or may not have been positive or contagious when there.

Following a previous case associated with the Goodstart Early Learning in Plenty Rd Bundoora testing has been offered for all staff and students. All household members will also be offered testing and have been asked to stay at home while awaiting their results.

So far, 220 tests have been completed with 117 negatives returned and 103 results pending. All 40 primary close contacts linked to a positive case at the centre are being contacted by DHHS with instructions to quarantine and undergo Day 11 tests.
