Looking at the length of lockdown in the UK shows they don't want to take any risks with this strain.1 case and a lockdown
My goodness
Just to be clear and fair. Its for 3 days and its because the risk is the UK strain. Happy to comply1 case and a lockdown

The cleaner in Qld. So she developed symptoms and was tested on that day. So why do they think she was infectious for the five days prior? I thought it was the 24 hours prior to symptoms or has that changed now? In which case it's pretty much impossible to contain.
It's 3 days if cases stay very low, if numbers climb not sure what will happen but let's hope it does not get there.Just to be clear and fair. Its for 3 days and its because the risk is the UK strain. Happy to comply
Where did Chen come in to my post?Yes, as I clearly stated that on Tuesday and on other days.
Including quoting Dan as per your quotes above.
Vic has recommended changes be made on a national basis.
But there is a huge difference between seeking and encouraging changes to forcing changes.
And moreso when on many measures states can and will decide what they will do anyway.
Implying that a person of Chen's standing and credibility would just be on such an expert commiittee as an extra vote to exert the will of Dan Andrews is just tinfoil hat stuff. Plus ignores that 2 people will not be able to force a committee of 25 to do anything.
Great vote of confidence in Q contact tracers from AP and JY.1 case and a lockdown
My goodness
NIH.just a shame he wasn't onboard with that approach when SA proposed it months ago
AP just put Greater Brisbane into a 3 day lockdown because of the cleaner case and mandatory masks.
The problem is if it spreads so easily they may just be chasing their tales. Considering they brought the state cabinet meeting forward to discuss this exact thing happening I am not surprised. Look at Victoria's outbreak and this is 70% more transmissible than the strain we are used to.Great vote of confidence in Q contact tracers from AP and JY.
You really need to get over this.
And your entitled to that opinion.
Wow oh Wow!
You need to stop exagerating what i say
Please stop twisting my words
Yes, as I clearly stated that on Tuesday and on other days.
Which is what i said last night
*Modeling* claims that it is. Only time and actual scientific research will tell whether that's actually true, or whether--as happened with the Spanish variant--it's just happened to dominate recent cases due to human behavior.this is 70% more transmissible than the strain we are used to.

Betcha history will show all variants exactly the same, just showed up prior to third wave whereby factors excluding this virus strain caused the mass outbreaks in UK.*Modeling* claims that it is. It's certainly convenient for some leaders (hello, Boris) to blame a super-contagious mutant rather than their own incompetence.
I asked someone yesterday if it was proven and I am sure they said it was but I don't recall reading anything as of yet. But given the possibility and the potential a different strain can have on a vaccine's effectiveness they aren't taking chances.*Modeling* claims that it is. I would also now be expecting other states to start looking into potential problems and learn from previous outbreaks. No point backtracking in a few days but start alerting potential cases that have travelled interstate.
Maybe it will be a false alarm and Brisbane lockdown will amount to an over reaction with very low numbers. But even a normal outbreak like Sydney in the North is still ongoing with lockdowns to continue for a few more days given a new case was found.
Read elsewhere that they've identified over 70 contacts based on the woman's movements over the 2nd-5th so I suspect this has something to do with it. Plus being the UK strain (though reportedly only 50-70% more transmissive, not a multiple).1 case and a lockdown
