Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Yes I am. It is selfish as they get their name in lights. If they are right, a great thing to hang your hat on. If wrong, "oh well that's what could have happened if the response wasn't so good."

Media are to blame for continually giving them a platform and creating explosive headlines as well.
I have to say this pandemic has been a bit of an eye opener with regards to how sensationalist the media are. They have been quite irresponsible at times.

Is anyone else sick of the Australian epidemiologist 'experts' (how many are there now?) being trotted out and always giving worst case scenarios as though they are fact and that authorities (in Australia anyway) won't react to prevent that happening? The most recent one being that Sydney would have 4000 cases by now. That didn't occur so then the same one moved to the next dire prediction. Could they just for once think about other health issues associated with their 'predictions' that they launch on social media And today it is that we can't control the UK threat regardless of what we do.
Shall we name and shame??? Lol

No new cases is good news for Brisbane.

Hopefully the travel restrictions between our 3 mainland eastern states are gone shortly.

My guess is that as no more cases have occurred from the Berala Cluster camper or elsewhere in Regional NSW that Vic will soon announce a reopening to at least green zone NSW.

Greater Sydney may take a little longer.

They’ll do that to fix the insane denial of entry into Victoria for their own residents problem that they themselves created.

Victoria's COVID response commander Jeroen Weimar said international air flight crews had one of the highest hit rates for the virus.

Mr Weimar, who spoke a press conference alongside Health Minister Martin Foley this afternoon, said more than 16,000 international airline crew members have been tested over the past four weeks and 11 have returned positive results.

How long has it been? Wonder where most would have ‘camped’ waiting for their exemption? Perhaps 14 days in a green zone would be enough.

Wasn’t there a more alarming figure of around 8 or so out of 2000 in the past 2 weeks?

There haven't been any cases in Regional NSW that have occurred from this person. The border is closed to a large area of NSW that hasn't had a case since April.

I am hoping for an announcement soon to reinstate the NSW green zone.

I believe so, yes. Maybe a coincidence. But it wouldn't be the first time numbers have been mistaken by the press. Or creatively adjusted by the politicians.

Until 28 days no new cases, which was the rule previously?

28 days is the measure for moving to Very Low Risk

As it stands, the definitions are:

Very Low Risk: No community cases in at least 28 days
Low Risk: Less than 5 community cases per day on a 14-day rolling average
Medium Risk: Above that

The question really is just why are Victoria and Brisbane declared Medium.
If they were Low Risk, then WA residents could return home and isolate. As it stands they are basically begging to return to their own state.
