Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

The terminal mask laws are bit strange. There's currently no community transmission in Tasmania and no general wearing of masks. No mask laws all last year but suddenly they are now essential, but only if you are in an airport.

Federal land, so I guess following a Federal directive, Australia-wide.

What they need to do is when a state goes into lockdown the Premier of that state must also go into lockdown as well and not be allowed to speak to the media until the lockdown is over.

What a lovely idea :)

I’m sure the Federal Government would also agree with you.

I can’t wait for every single one of these Premiers to crawl back under their respective rocks when this is all over and just be known to a small population of their own states :)

QLD waste water keeps churning out the positives... this time in FNQ

COVID-19 fragments found in Mackay North, Cairns sewage

Authorities have revealed coronavirus fragments have been detected in wastewater in Mackay North and Cairns.

Mackay North receives sewage from the suburbs of Beaconsfield, Richmond, Shoal Point, Bucasia, Blacks Beach, Rural View, Eimeo and Dolphin Heads, while Cairns Marlin Coast receives sewage from the suburbs of Barron, Kamerunga, Macalister Range, Yorkeys Knob, Caravonica, Trinity Beach, Smithfield, Palm Cove, Trinity Park, Clifton Beach and Kewarra Beach.

Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said she was concerned by increasing detections in sewage.

Watching sky news and seeing new restrictions expected for Victoria flashing on the screen feels almost surreal until you realise who the premier is.
Hopefully he can at least give out some information and knock some of these rumours on the head that are filtering out

Press conference at 10.30pm. As sky says, it’s never good news announced this late at night.

I predict a lock down.

Seriously, if this is a lockdown announcement - what kind of future is there for 2021.

I'm hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.

My sincere thoughts are with all businesses effected by these sorts of announcements. Must be so unbelievably difficult.

And families. I think there may be a couple of AFF'ers who may be particularly impacted now.

VIC test daily (well every shift)... they’ve already isolated the close contacts. They have very strong contact tracing. Why on earth have a presser so late unless they’ve discovered this worker is also a choir singer, a priest who blessed 500 people directly...?

26 y.o. tested positive. He works at a quarantine hotel. Only the one case, but a number of exposure sites.

It doesn't sound like any restrictions.

Got back from Melbourne a few hours ago 🙄. Looking forward to the mass panic.

But seriously, this is ridiculous. We can’t be having midnight emergency press conferences for the rest of the year to call raise hysteria over the virus.

Maybe 6 months ago it looked like Australian was doing a good job, but I’m honestly embarrassed as to how we’ve deteriorated.

It probably wont be the UK strain so wont require such drastic measures plus he wants get his emergency powers extended so has to be level headed.

8 exposure sites... for 30 and 31 Jan retail etc. The worker kept very good records of where they went apparently.

That’s it...

And some restrictions are back...

Private gatherings 15 max
Masks are back indoors (at least Victorians know how to wear masks)
Return to work (75%) paused remains at 50%

Meh, VIC and NSW can handle these sorts of things.
