Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Fortunately QLD still allows transit through an airport when coming to QLD.
On Monday we are travelling DPO-MEL-MCY on QF.

Well if Melbourne lockdown for 5 days then the SA border decision does not seem so disproportionate anymore.

Of course the fatality is a dreadful thing to happen.

WA already have extended their ‘closure’.

NSW will probably just make rules saying Melbourne lockdown applies to you if you were in Melbourne at certain times.

The others might decide to raise border restrictions for 5 days in response.

Unfortunately I think it is.
Just too much smoke not to be fire
Poor buggers can’t take a trick 😢
Pretty sick of government despite constant reassurance being unable to cease leaks from HQ. I know it's a hard job, but it's frustrating nonetheless.

We all end up paying the price unfortunately.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to the Australian Open if they do lockdown. Obviously no spectators, not a good look either way.

Given the coffee shop is at the airport, surely the destinations of the planes that departed T4 during the time the worker was on duty need to on alert?

On radio this morning they said 29 flights had passed through there at those times and possible that many are now in other states

But being an airport so everyone should be wearing masks.

But the only reason you wouldn't be is because you were eating.

Well unless the person used a nebuliser at work, based on previous experience here in Australia we shouldn't have anything to worry about...!

Is it still correct that SA are allowing a two hour transit through Melbourne airport? They've introduced a few direct flights elsewhere but Melbourne airport is still the main way in and out of Tasmania. Any outbreak there is a worry!

Why? They've had months to prepare for any outbreak and have been consistently messaging they are 100% ready to go. Do you think the Tasmanian government / Dept Health / CHO could be lying?

They have covidsafe measures in place.... When I was there I was quite impressed with all their tracking and tracing. No masks though of course.

Yes........ many of those flights and the people are now in other states I would guess, that is why people go to an airport right? 😂

Yes. On the Victorian side. It’s a difficult one although even though it’s an SA decision the congestion on the Victorian side should require attention by Victorian Police but given Victoria’s border was open at the time it’s likely they did not have the manpower right there on such short notice.

It's not Victoria Police's fault that SA slapped a hap hazard border closure up, with minutes / few hours max notice that resulted in traffic on the VIC side building up and then someone dying because of the dangerous conditions.

The responsibility for this tragedy lies squarely at the feet of the SA government / leader that made this decision without putting proper procedures, communication or notice for the border closure in place, resulting in the congregation of traffic near the border.

Just passed an "official" Australian Open Kia van. Driver masked, two in the back looked like player and coach - no mask.

Lockdown is coming over ZERO mystery cases, millions put out of work and thousands of businesses ruined, but this lot will still be able to play tennis of course...
