So an ignorant question if I may.... (I'm not just here for terrible jokes and sledging bureaucrats)

Lets pretend the said Healthcare Worker had been vaccinated, how big a difference would this actually have made? Would they have not caught Covid at all, or would they still have caught it but with mild symptoms and therefore still potentially been an unknowing spreader?

Oh dear.QLD Health and a stuff up.Who would have thought.

I have previously reported how an anaethetist we know on the Sunshine Coast who had been called on to intubate Covid positive cases was not considered a frontline HCW.He did finally get vaccinated with the last lot of HCWs in 1a because he was the only one not done in the Anaesthetics Department.:oops:

Probably will not need hospitalisation. Probably mild symptoms at worst. There’s two positives.

Edit: Waiting for more news on that hens event. Back in the coop by now, I guess.

Expectation is that WA will be implementing border restrictions on NSW shortly....

(Disclaimer: commercial radio speculation only, I can't change the station in this shared office to ABC News unfort!)

The nurses are not linked to the lanscaper cluster (which is only linked to the Doctor by genomics - the contract tracing only identified the historic case because the landscaper presented for testing with symptoms), so second ring a few weeks ago wouldnt have stopped these latest cases, as they werent originally identified as contacts. If you cant identify a venue or person to link now, wouldnt have found them then.

What would have reduced the risk was ensuring that those working on covid wards had been vaccinated and people observing social distancing and using QR codes which anecdotally still seems low in Queensland, hence lock down for contract tracers to catch up cause lots of manual work.

The Hens party obviously had no distancing going on if the entertainment (let call him the stripper he is) was infected by the nurses. His movements will add Gold Coast to lock down Im sure. One of that cluster lives in NSW so expect to see NSW locked out of most states shortly (although one can hope it only ends up being Northern Rivers LGA aka Byron).

All because Queensland uses hospital instead of hot hotels but then doesnt test staff in covid wards each shift like the hot hotels do. We have a recurring theme of not enough rigger at the high exposure risk sites re arrivals.

He apologised for his mistake. So the Minister would seem to disagee with you.

He may have aplogised for mentioning the band name, but that doesnt prove it wasnt already public information. As soon as the venues and dates was released people kmew who the band was.

Had the Minister not outed the band, you can bet the media would have done so given their love of pursuing such Covid-19 spreaders. The Minister apologised for the privacy breach and fair enough, but the identity was clearly in the public domain for anyone to find, unlike Pizzaman in SA.

Isn’t Byron Bay having a music festival over Easter?

Yes Bluesfest is on, but am assuming south east Queenslanders (performers and audience) will no longer be welcomed. Lots of locals worried that the Hens Party put Bluesfest at risk.

Agree. Depends on how those hens partied in Byron as to how far damage is already done.

A number of new Byron venues added to the exposure list today by NSW, two of those have mandatory 14 day iso, the rest have iso until negative test results directives.

Couldn’t be a worse time for this really - lots of travel and special events happening :(. We have a major chess event happening in Canberra over the weekend. Well over 200 players from every state and territory. I have one of the Directors of Play staying with us over the weekend. First visitor we have had since Covid began and I did warn him that I would reconsider if anything happened. Well contacted him yesterday and he has reassured me that players have been emailed and told if they have been in a problem area they have to withdraw and will get a refund.

So I guess the odds are in my favour - first someone has to ignore the rules and second they have to be infectious. However it that did happen, we are talking about people being inside for hours and hours and then going home all over Australia. Could be a great super spreader event :(

But this is what I'm finding. What are the odds of a person like a Nurse from Qld, contracting Covid and going to Byron while infectious, for a hens party, infecting her sister, and the umm, entertainer, who then returns to Brisbane and attends a Nursing home? All these random events just seem to happen.
