And it’s confirmed.

3 day lockdown for WA.

For one confirmed local case in Perth and one more possible/likely (rapid test for a close contact) case = 2 local cases in WA.

Absolutely ludicrous.

Useless CHO. Useless state government. Useless department of health that no one has any faith in whatsoever in terms of contact tracing or any capability to manage this.

Going to have a drink! Can’t handle anymore... Deeply embarrassed to be Australian right now.

and 1 of those 2 cases in Melb now, other in quarantine....

drop of a hat disruptive for so many. And a long weekend they have, I imagine lot of weekends away canceled now at last minute. oh no.

A drink in order also here.

Ok, ok I have a reserve of lockdown with 1 case. Any advance on that? Will someone give me lockdown with zero cases? Going .... going .....

Oh dear! Just took the dogs for a walk in the reserve and there was a woman sitting on the grass with her mobile phone. It looked a bit odd (it’s cold!), so I was looking at her surreptitiously in case she needed help. She saw me and came over for a chat. Poor woman is from Perth and hasn’t gone anywhere for ages. Flew to Sydney to be with her husband for a few days and then came to Canberra to do a course. Husband is now back in Perth and she was supposed to fly back tomorrow. She was anxiously waiting for the broadcast to see whether she would be allowed to fly back. All crazy!

Can I recommend a wedding in Perth? If you have less than 100 guests, you are all good to go during the lockdown.

What an absolute farce.
Or as an alternative, head to the Western Force or Perth Wildcats game tonight. They're still going ahead because it is "logistically unreasonable" to stop having fans at them.

If the Australian Grand Prix can cancel the entire event with thousands at the gates on the morning of, then WA can cancel crowds with hours notice. What a pathetic state of affairs.

There is either an imminent threat requiring you to Police the ENTIRE community, or there is not. It is abundantly clear, there is NOT.

You get what you vote for.

Well it is a "kind of lockdown". Commissioner basically saying that as long as you are out Perth soon, that you can do it..

PS Personally I think all they need to be doing is the two ring method.

Maybe the vets can kick a footy around. Should do the same in SA. Anzacs limited to 1000 and tickets. AFL? Come on down. 50,000

Tasmania and QLD line up to slam borders shut to WA no doubt ;)
Excuse me, as a Queenslander I think we should have stricter border measures with the republic of Western Australia more often.

On a slightly more serious note... place your bets on which state/territory will shut to WA first. My money is actually on VIC.

Vic is in their own pain now courtesy of WA.

New Zealand maybe? Our newest state.

Health advice advises nobody can go to the footy tomorrow but can head off to the rugby or basketball tonight?

apparently he went home from the airport to see his wife & kids who are being tested today.

Can't imagine why you'd request a move to home town HQ as can't have visitors etc.
His 14days was completed.
WA authorities notified him to test & isolate as stayed in Perth HQ in net room to positive case.
He did request to be moved to Vic HQ...I don't understand the request to be moved. 14days up, go home wouldn't you as wasn't aware of being positive at that point.

Vic minister has spoken.

interesting scenario.
Maybe his home was not suitable for quarantine.

I would prefer to hear from those in the Perth area, or others who are affected by this.

Now if it occurred whilst I was there and we had to spend and extra 3 days in quarantine then I would accept the blame.

But 48 hours later it wasn't me.!!! 🥱 :eek::rolleyes:o_O

Seriously though it does make it obvious that travel to WA is a very risky proposition.Even if you make it there you could still end up in quarantine. The only times during the WA trip I felt safe was the day in Geraldton when they had no mobile phone reception and on the boat a lot of the time for the same reason.

It sounds like to be fair to other passengers originating in less risky countries that they should only permit Indian originating pax into Howard Springs and not into the hotel system.

Not fair that the single riskiest exposure to covid for some is not being in the country they came from, but sitting in the hotel room in HQ in Australia. (Sounds more riskier than a plane, with the current caps if you take an economy seat, you can easily socially distance and wear an N95 mask and safety glasses, which you won't do in hotel room in HQ).
Totally agree @dajop, and as I’ve said before I’m surprised there isn’t more outrage when people are infected because of forced HQ. People are being charged good money to be placed in a worse situation than they were when they started out. It’s clearly not treated as if it is a medical situation - “first do no harm” obviously does not apply to the people in quarantine.
