The madness will only end when the various State governments hand back the various emergency powers they've appointed themselves and go back to being a largely irrelevant middle layer of Government. Until then, they're in clover!

I'm interested in how SA is going to enforce this. When I was going to SA twice earlier this year (both cancelled in the end), I had to apply through the SA police. So do they check your home address against the vaccination stats and send your testing requirements through or is it up to the traveller to work it out?

I prefer coral Bay / Cape Range / Exmouth area in North WA, sheets all over Broome, camel ride on the beach, woopty doo!

Bali, yuk yuk yuk!

I'm not sure about the SA enforcment. I've entered the State a couple of times and was meant to have a day one test. Because I was just heading through, I never bothered and never heard anything else. Recent trip, I'd come from Queensland so went and had a test. All good, but I'm back in Tasmania and started getting texts harassing me about not getting tested. Ignored the first couple but it continued so I contacted the SA help line. Their advice was that as long as I had proof of test, ignore the harassment. Seems typical bureaucratic incompetence and lack of communication between departments.

Why would you pay for a test they are free in Australia (for the moment) but yes the chance that people will test positive is increasing every single day as Covid spreads around Australia.

It should be double vax for domestic travel. That’s it.
Period.
PVR tests are not free for personal travel. Around $145. Of course you could you have been in a suspect shop…..

He made some bizarre threats to SA if they opened to NSW/VIC and will have to follow through unless he can find a way to spin his vaccine rollout in to a "it's ok we can open early" policy.

Which I can't see happening. Only yesterday he said there was no chance that VIC/NSW border would be open at Christmas.
McGowan’s comments today suggest the border won’t automatically close to COVID-free states that let in people from NSW/Vic. Instead it will be based on community transmission (same as now). I’m watching this like a hawk too as I want to travel to QLD from WA for Xmas.

This article from the ABC refers to something I've heard Mark say a few times which is that he wants to avoid introducing restrictions in WA during the Christmas period.

"But I think we owe it to ourselves and to all the small businesses and all the families that want to have a proper, relatively normal Christmas, to avoid those restrictions that states like South Australia are going to have in place."

I take the point that hospitality venues would suffer in one of their busiest times of the year, and many families would resent / not comply with restrictions at family gatherings. But I wonder the net impact of increased local spending & tourism vs inbound interstate tourists. This seems to have have struck a chord with hospitality / tourism lobbies, else I imagine they'd be much more vocal:

"We have had lots of consultation with lots of business groups who want us to keep the current arrangement in place so that those cafes, bars, pubs, restaurants, hotels, motels, caravan parks, etc, have a successful Christmas period without restrictions in place that damage their income."

They have asked for drivers licences when I've come through. So it is possible.

Can't you just go to a drive through testing centre? If you say you have a sore throat it's not like they check you for symptoms.

Depends on the documentation you need to show. You’ll only get a text message from the drive through test - definitely not good enough for international travel.
