Australian state border restrictions

SA, the new QLD…. (And not in a good way…)

——-

A family forced to leave South Australia under police escort after being considered close contacts on a flight into the state said they were "disgusted" by the lack of communication from SA Health.

So anyone flying to SA can be forced into HQ if there was 1 positive case on board. Sorry but that puts SA well behind WA and there is no way I would consider flying to SA until this stupid BS is axed totally.

That's beyond the pale. I am going across to SA this weekend for one night to visit family, my only blood relatives in Australia. Although I half expect the border to have been closed by then it is hugely concerning that I could be locked in a hotel simply by virtue of having sat in a particular row on the plane.

And this

The story I mentioned earlier today. Imagine this happening within 14 days of Christmas. I’d be explosive.

What is going on down there?! Something in the water turning everyone batty?!
Spurreirs punishment I’d suggest. If it didn’t mean a lockdown it’s about time we had high numbers. But the stupider it gets the angrier people get and Stevens this morning is well aware that social media has turned on them. I’m doing my best to make it so 😂

I'm looking forward to next week when they identify an entire stand at The Adelaide Oval as a close contact venue and try to find a hotel big enough to hold them all.

Well WA is trying to steal Adelaide’s test now because of the border restrictions… and so it goes on and on!

Don't don't don't. At least now members don't have allocated seats anymore. So well, seems to me there are choices to be made. But honestly? We are a monty to get caught up in the SACA 150 commemorative dinner the Tuesday before, which will be attended by so many visitors and we won't be able to get out of that one as we are on a table organised by a SACA committee member and the former President of SACA is planning to catch up with us.

Does every passenger get screened/interviewed/interrogated as they get off the plane before being released into the terminal?
I think the answer is yes as it is an entry requirement to SA, I was at the front of the plane and off quickly all the desks filled up and there was a PAX line waiting to be processed as PAX were checked, cleared and released. ADL airport has reinstated the process of getting funnelled into an area that has around 22 -25 desks and all your details. The ability to just enter the terminal has been closed off this is a similar process to what has been in place in the past, however they have stopped handing out the "admit one" ticket ;)

There's more chance of the Second Test being played in my garden* than there is of it being moved to Perth.

*uncovered wicket, short boundary on one side, quite a few weeds outside off-stump

‘Get stuffed WA’: Shameless move proves state has officially lost the plot

Aussie cricket fans couldn’t believe their ears when they heard of WA’s bold bid to poach an Ashes Test despite its border restrictions.

Qld just announced border reopening brought forward to 13th Dec, but are adding need for a day 5 test (what a pain).

Basically means cant plan any tourist activities on day 5 of a visit, as have to waste the day travelling to and queuing up for a test.

But with pre-arrival and Day 5 tests.

Yeah this means I will need to cancel, as supposed to be going to Port Douglas and there are no testing centres in Port Douglas, only in Mossman (20kms away) which you need a car to get too, I wont have access to a car, plus day 5 is both a Public Holiday and a Saturday and the Mossman one doesn't open on weekends or public holidays for non-symptomatic patients.

So a totally unachievable requirement, what a joke!

This seems to be becoming a national trend. There were two positive cases at the other end of my A350 from SIN and I am doing 14 days as a result, and that is NSW doing it. I saw reportage of a flight from SYD to MEL (I think it was) with a positive case, and the whole plane got quarantined.

Whatever happend to the old rule that two rows forward and two rows back from the case were close contacts?! This makes air travel much more high risk.

Cheers skip

Get stuffed!

So people will just not do the day 5 tests, won’t blame them. What are QLD going to do? Hunt down 10,000 tourists? Yea right. Again, totally unenforceable. My friends coming up from Sydney just won’t bother I know that already 😂

Mossman is listed as being open until 2pm on Saturdays bit still a pain without a car

According to the website can only get a test on weekends, public holidays or after hours if you are symptomatic and only by appointment. I dont plan on being symptomatic, and I cant make day 5 a non public holiday.

Their website clearly states it is a "COVID 19 clinic - only for people who have symptoms including fever and acute respiratory illness (e.g. sore throat, cough, shortness of breath or loss of smell or loss of taste)"

What a joke not to have testing locations in tourist areas, restrict clinics to only symptomatic people and not to have any open on public holidays if you introduce a mandatory test rule. Lunacy.
