Australian state border restrictions

I'm not angry at the unvaxed I just think they are incredibly stupid for making the decision not to protect themselves against serious illness. Unvaccinated still dominate ICU.
How is it incredibly stupid? It's not vax/no-vax which dominates the reason for ICU - but age and underlying health.

Agreed if you are in either of those two cohorts getting vaccinated is probably a good idea. But the survivability rate is still high without vaccination in those cohorts, and extremely high outside it.

Vaccination is not without it's risks - over 100k reported side-effects in two years alone, with over 1,000 related deaths.

So if you're middle-aged or younger and healthy, it's perfectly reasonable to be hesitant - and one shouldn't be ostracised from society for it and the subject of extreme views such as yours, particularly as it doesn't affect you.

It's a simile, a comparison. If you don't get it I'm not sure any explaining will help.

Condescension lovely! I never called for exclusion so your comparison to a Lepper colony is pointless and unfounded.

How is it incredibly stupid?

IMO there is a safe, free, readily available vaccine which has been shown to materially prevent serious illness so any one who chooses not to get vaccinated is choosing to gamble that they wont get seriously ill. Their dumb choice, so i have zero sympathy if they subsequently get very ill or die. Anger doesn't come into it.

Why are you so angry that I think anti-vaxers are stupid? How does that impact you? My opinion isn't impinging on anyone's choice to not get vaccinated, they have the right to be stupid.

Why do you care that I dont care about poor outcomes for those that made decisions?

I also think smokers are stupid for smoking. Doesn't that stop people smoking, no.

Vaccination is not without it's risks

And did i ever say it was risk free? Nope, just more stuff you have made up. It is well known I will never consider getting AZ when there are 3 safer choices for myself.

and one shouldn't be ostracised from society for it and the subject of extreme views such as yours, particularly as it doesn't affect you.

And yet again you are falsely attributing totally made up extreme views to me. I have not called for anyone to be ostracised, my post specifically said we shouldn't be restricting people because some numpties make poor decisions. So perhaps direct this drivel at those here who want masks mandated everywhere for everyone indefinitely and aren't prepared to live with covid.

I made a sensible choice to get vaccinated, I wear a mask when I feel there is benefit to me, and I am happily out enjoying the world.

I don’t think anyone is angry but I too have zero problems with unvaccinated being excluded from things
But why? You are more likely to catch covid from a vaccinated person ( given the huge proportion in that group) them an unvaxxed. I agree that the unvaxxed *without medical etc reason* is pretty stupid, but I don't think they pose a greater risk than the holy vaxxed.

For those that are vaxxed, covid mostly is not much more than a cold, or flu. Have we ever cast the unvaxxed against flu out of society?

Sure you did:

"You cant punish and restrict the 95% because of 5%, the onus for extra precautions and restrictions needs to be on the minority, the world cant keep pausing life due to covid, we dont take such actions for any other disease with a CFR well below 1%."

And yet again you take out of context, if you go back the original post (and the preceding back and forth), that was a reply to someone else proposing that the 95% are the danger and should be restricted, to protect the 5%. I disagreed, if tthere are restrictions then they naturally should be on the minority not the majority. But i was not calling for restrictions on anyone.

If you werent lazy and read things in order and context you wouldnt have made that mistake. Ive been a fan of opening up; pointed out the absurdity of domestic boarder closures plenty.

Anyway bored with your delusions. I am enjoying lack of restrictions.

I think this thread needs to be parked at a remote stand for a day or two.

I personally think we can probably park all the covid forums. It was fun whilst we were in lockdown not travelling, but their time has passed.

At very least remove top billing and throw them down the bottom.

The best way to help park a thread is to not post.

If that doesn't work for you then just visit the forums you are more interested in.

e.g. starting with this link for airlines:

Given there are no border restrictions anymore, why don’t we just bury this thread and lock it.

It just seems to have descended into a vax fight, again.

Except the post you replied to did not mention the 95% nor that they should be restricted I just pointed out the those that are vaxxed are more likely to be asymptomatic. But even though they have no symptoms they can still transmit the virus.
Here is that post.

I saw a different take on vaccine mandates over on Twitter. Actually made a little sense. Many studies now in the Omicron era showing very little difference in the incidence of infection in the vaccinated and unvaccinated especially after 3-4 months of the last dose. Virtually no difference in virus levels so both lots are infectious.
The big difference is the vaccinated are more likely to be asymptomatic with less severe disease. Therefore in fact it is the unvaccinated that are in danger from the vaccinated so unvaxed folk should steer clear of vaccinated folk. Maybe the Supreme Leader is actually standing up for the unvaxed.:)

Note the smiley. So you really thought it was me seriously proposing the 95% should be restricted. Just Wow.

Noo, this thread is as good as this one

My wife is locked out of WA still, their stupid border controls. She can't visit her brothers or sisters still.
