Australian state border restrictions

The simple message is.....don't! The last remaining trip I have for this calendar year is Sydney starting on 5/8. Not going to happen, so that will be yet more flight credits to bank. I will sit on them and plan to use them in the hope that we reach the 'post-vaccination' phase before they expire. Otherwise, I'm staying in Victoria...to the extent that lockdowns will let me leave Melbourne!

yes it's frustrating for anyone trying to plan anything at all.
Plan? What is a plan? Our plans are based on a day to day restructure because at any instant we are put into isolation by virtue of the QR process, by distance limitations, and outright lockdown. We can't even think that while SA has zero Covid in the community currently, that wouldn't stop our Health from preventing movement even intra state. They tightened our restrictions a couple of weeks ago as a pre emptive strike! With zero cases here. I heard today that the CHO wanted a full lockdown but was thwarted. Once we get that mentality we are done.

I took no Premier or CHO earlier today at Vic announcement as a good sign. Now I hear that lockdown is imminent in Victoria. I had hoped my TAS trip this evening would be able to go ahead. This is so frustrating.
mate seems like you've had some badluck with travel of late.
my trip next week to OOL off now too.
Wonder if the airlines still travelling at pre-pandemic record highs.

Given the tiny number of current flights on the golden triangle we know that's not the case...with MEL-BNE about to be wiped out all 3 sides are toast.

If you care coming from any current red zones, think twice. Tas might go retrospective. But unless whole city or state is locked down, should be ok.

At this rate domestic travel will be a write-off until 2022

Well SA has historically been susceptible whenever there is spread in Victoria.
But the other factor is the visit by the mildly cooperative removalists.
Hugs to SA.

At least I didn’t write-off my spend on the flights and was planning to stay with friends so didn’t have accommodation booked either.

Tempted to pay the premium for booking on the day or a few days out for future domestic trips. At least a few days out one should have had an idea if lockdown is even a remote possibility.

Which is pathetic, the fully vaccinated should not be subject to these lockdowns and lock-outs.
I’ll be fully vaccinated late September or possibly earlier if health advice is to bring forward the second dose.

BREAKING: Border changes in SA. - NSW and ACT remain locked out. - South-east QLD (11 LGAs) border restrictions will NOT be lifted tonight at midnight. - Restrictions lifted on Townsville and Birdsville - Effective midnight Victoria is locked out.

Yes but Tas sometimes struggle to find people when it’s retrospective… it’s terribly sad when that happens ;)

I agree with you to a point, I'm 1 jab down and 1 to go but some of the younger folk I work who really really want it with are struggling to find an appointment to get one

I'm not sure if punishing them by watching us lucky few being able to move freely
when they cant for a lack of supply that is out of their control is wise yet at least

But it provides an incentive to get vaccinated when they can.

The number of vaccinated is going up all the time, so more and more should be able to move about. If you look at the number there are quite a lot of of younger people already vaccinated due to their jobs or living with a front line worker.

We do more unnecessary damage by waiting for everyone.

Any adult that wants one can go and get AZ now. So in 3 months at most there will have been plenty of time for everyone who wants to to have been fully vaccinated. We do need to start giving freedoms back to the fully vaccinated.

They should look to offer 60+ people that haven’t yet had their first dose whatever they want. If we can get the fully vaccinated over 70 numbers up quickly protecting the most vulnerable it will become harder and harder to justify the level of restrictions we have now.

TAS closing to VIC now
I could have been at the airport now unable to take the flight to TAS. Glad I decided to cancel, but these restrictions are over the top locking millions of people who don’t have the virus out from travelling.
