Australian state border restrictions

Expect border restrictions will be implemented for SA
We are open with WA, NT and Tasmania currently but I think they will chop us out

Tas alresdy has a list of 'high risk' SA premises up and if the SA govt declares itself high risk/lockdown, Tas will follow the next day and might back-date HQ, or other restrictions for recent arrivals

Calling @henleybeach roaming Tassie?

.. and all the money (except QF) is already refunded to the credit credit (less than 24 hours later). Take note QANTAS - how to treat your customers
Quite so!

I find that VA and even Jetstar are far more responsive in providing refunds.

We have been ok so far, we get regularly text messages from TAS govt asking if we have been to a high risk site, so far so good.
We were meant to fly home from Launceston on Thursday via Melb but have had to cancel and book Jetstar Hobart to Adel on fri night. Currently you can transit Melbourne airport, but I don’t trust our Govt, changing their minds daily.
Now we have to get too Hobart !

It feels weird to be discussing an airline issue for once!

And yes, both of these airlines have vastly better customer service than QF!

You'd probably be OK transiting MEL. SA was being a bit silly about it last year but they got over it. Hopefully I'm not speaking too soon!
My solution to getting to Hobart (whilst SA was being silly) was to hire a car in Launceston and drop off at HBA. Not sure of the current figures but last year, even though I live here, the return fuel cost almost paid for the hire car.

Yer the SA gov outlines connections under 2 hours are ok but tne other probably is Virgin have slashed flights, so our connection in Melb had been compromised and was like 14 hour connection instead of 60 minutes. Qantas was still displaying accepting connections from Launceston to Adel but I feel they haven’t adjusted their schedule yet.
Yep, we have hired a car to get from L to H,
Luckily I booked the direct flight yesterday, as of
This morning, it was sold Out according to the website.

The changing regulations do make booking flights a real cough shoot. The most convenient flights for me getting home is actually VA LST-MEL-MCY.JQ also does that but leaves LST 30 minutes later and arrives into MCY 40 minutes later but is $100 dearer.
Now I can transit MEL but will there still be a flight MEL - MCY.I doubt it.

So Plan B was to fly LST - BNE.But normally the VA flight leaves LST at 0610 and the JQ flight arrives into BNE just before midnight.Neither appeal to me.
So plan C fly via ADL as QF have 2 direct LST-ADL flights on the day I am leaving. Both connect to JQ flights to either BNE or MCY.The earlier one connects with a QF flight to BNE.And I would get lounge access. :) But after today will QLD be just as kind with SA as they have been with NSW.

But I decided to take another look at VA and on the day I am going home they have a second direct LST - BNE flight at midday. So fortunately Plan B still in play.

It really is a game of roulette. My most recent trip was a relatively harmless LST-MEL-ADL. Nice trip, no long connections but nothing too tight. Qantas changed it to LST-SYD-ADL, with a tight SYD transit. Inevitable happened; first flight a bit delayed and a missed connection at SYD. Fortunately, there was another ADL flight within two hours, but what if there hadn't been? Over-nighting in Sydney would have seriously affected business for at least two weeks and who'd pick up the tab for that? I booked a safe trip. Qantas changed it to a more risky route but I bet they would have ducked out and blamed State restrictions.

I am hoping to get to PER from MEL in late August. 4 weeks forced leave from work. Will be crushed if I can't get home to see family - won't get more leave until next year. Original plan was to go to QLD for a holiday then over to WA.

Now with everything that's happened, planning Tasmania as a better option, assuming border is open to VIC. Mostly because no international flights so less chance of an outbreak.

Will book a flight to LST, then 2 weeks later on the direct HBA-PER. If WA makes VIC very low risk, then I will leave ASAP to WA earlier. So much uncertainty, it's soul destroying when you have to jump through so many hoops just to see family :(.

Didn’t realise QF flew LST/ADL…

QF definitely have 2 bookable flights LST - ADL on Saturday 31/7.
However I first looked at this about 3 days ago and then ~ 4pm today and fares a little over $100.Just checked now and cheapest fare $254.
