Hey guys – I’ve got a stash of Amex Ascent Premium points that I intend to transfer over to Qantas for an upcoming last minute trip to Europe. There are business class seats available on the way home, and it’s a Qatar -operated flight. It doesn’t say “5 seats or fewer” so I am inclined to think there would be sufficient time for me to get Amex to transfer the points over and then make a redemption for two, but seeing as it’s a Qatar -operated flight, I wonder if Qantas have that level of visibility? Or are Qantas just allocated a known (to them) number of seats on Qatar flights?

My concern is that I might be transferring a chunk of points over to QFF and then have the business class seats run out before I get to book them.

Thoughts, and comments appreciated!

Assuming these Amex Ascent Premium points convert to QFF points, and you are looking to redeem 2 J award seats, I believe you'd have to call Qantas to check availability for Qatar J seats and book by phone with them. The "5 seats or fewer" you mention would only be shown on the regular purchasing page of the website, and not on the reward seat availability page.

Thanks for the responses everyone; I did read them all but didn't have the time to respond back. Managed to book 2 x J class tickets as they opened up at the very last minute. Just wondering which lounges I'll be able to access in Heathrow and during the layover in Dubai?

Heathrow qr have an awesome lounge in t4 exclusive to their j and f customers. Check my tr below for a review towards the end (and also of their Doha lounge)

The TR link didn't come through.
