A friend with a trade booth gifted us some entry tickets, so the family and I went yesterday.
I loathe crowds, and I could not believe how HUGE the show is and how many people are there. The carpark just spread as far as the eye could see. I have an event management background so was impressed by the logistics in putting this event together in the middle of nowhere. All the portaloo vans had to be hooked up to water trucks. The lines for food were huge, but fortunately friends company's chalet had leftovers so we ate there
Despite my fear of crowds (and standing, and queueing and being pushed around, and my kids complaining) everyone moved along pretty quickly. There was so much action in the sky I didn't get annoyed by the chaos on the ground.
I was impressed by the aerial displays and got a chuckle out of the program that went something like (remember I am a novice here and don't have the program in front of me)
RAN Seahawk
C27-J Spartan
JQ4432 A320
And of course my kids (all younger than 10) probably preferred seeing the JQ jets rather than the noisy, chest-thumping F-16.
And of course the RAAF Roulettes were really, really incredible. So all in all, the best money I've never spent. Great day, will go again in two years, even if we have to pay!
