it seems that my post from Hobart airport yesterday didn't make it!

Junior delinquent appears to have had his 3 day gold pass revoked for an indiscretion at school so i now have 2 of them for sale

They are in the spitfire stand

Anyone here interested in them before i put them on ebay?

SHane

I was at Avalon yesterday and all I can say is that there is a lot of work required to have the place ready for Tuesday.

Posting from YMAV right now , well it is going to take a really really solid effort today to be prepared for it tomorrow.

Might cause a few ups and downs. Thats it

That sucks - your son must be in mighty deep trouble!

Trouble????????

His mother is dealing with it!

I suspect he won't be doing that again anyway
;)

Traffic Melb to Avalon up to Friday should be okay. I travel that way to work each morning. Now I just have to persuade my CEO that one of those trade tickets should come my way.

Where's my train!

Sitting at Geelong station with 25min until the train gets here with my newly acquired Macbook Air and my trusty NextG USB dongle keeping me company.

I thought of getting a taxi, but the idea of getting stuck in a long line of traffic with a meter ticking scares me :)

My bag is safely stowed at the hotel. Unfortunately my room wasn't ready, but that's to be expected.

Well yesterday was thoroughly enjoyable (albeit freezing). It's a pity that the Telstra 3G network didn't appear to cope though (not sure how the other networks fared).

Those going today are in for a treat with the weather. I wish I was staying today as well.

If anyone is there today I'll wave when I take off on the JQ flight at around 2:45pm :)

What a week. Completely buggered after 3 days manning the stand, but rewarded with viewing a great afternoon of flying on Friday afternoon/evening. Bloody cold though!

Highlights for me were the B-1B and the F/A-18F, and the F-22 on the static display. Was also great to have a walk around inside Connie. I tell you what, she might have been a slow journey, but man those seats were comfortable.

The lighting was absolutely terrible for photography, my shot of the show is below:

Not bad for 5 year old $100 "plastic" lens.

Way too tired to go through the other 700 odd photos right now, will try and do so and post up some more tomorrow.

E3 23.

I'll be there Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning.

Well I tried but sadly couldn't find the stand. :(

Am glad I went on Thursday and Friday (I spent nearly 12 hours there on Friday!!) but am glad I didn't pay the entrance fee. I had been looking forward to this for so long but I think I am mildly disappointed even though I saw everything with the benefit of small crowds.

Thursday I went with a work colleague who drove from Tullamarine to Avalon with no problems at all and then Friday I caught the train/bus with the typical cough up where the train arrived at Lara and then >100 people stood around for about 20 minutes before the bus drivers were woken up to drive their buses to Avalon. Fortunately someone had the right phone number and rang the right person to put a rocket up their rectums.

This was the trade day crowd early arrival, goodness help them if it was the general public!

Seriously how hard can it be to organise the driver to be awake and to be at their buses to meet the trains? (Not very I have done this many many years ago!)

A friend with a trade booth gifted us some entry tickets, so the family and I went yesterday.

I loathe crowds, and I could not believe how HUGE the show is and how many people are there. The carpark just spread as far as the eye could see. I have an event management background so was impressed by the logistics in putting this event together in the middle of nowhere. All the portaloo vans had to be hooked up to water trucks. The lines for food were huge, but fortunately friends company's chalet had leftovers so we ate there
Despite my fear of crowds (and standing, and queueing and being pushed around, and my kids complaining) everyone moved along pretty quickly. There was so much action in the sky I didn't get annoyed by the chaos on the ground.

I was impressed by the aerial displays and got a chuckle out of the program that went something like (remember I am a novice here and don't have the program in front of me)

RAN Seahawk
C27-J Spartan
JQ4432 A320

And of course my kids (all younger than 10) probably preferred seeing the JQ jets rather than the noisy, chest-thumping F-16.

And of course the RAAF Roulettes were really, really incredible. So all in all, the best money I've never spent. Great day, will go again in two years, even if we have to pay!
