What is the best way to get to AVV if I were to go down and can't rent a car?
The chances of being unable to rent a car in Melbourne would be pretty slim...
In saying that you could:
Option 1
1. Skybus to Southern Cross station
2. V-Line to Geelong (Lara Stop)
3. Take bus from Lara to AVV
Option 2
1. Skybus to Southern Cross station
2. Metro to Werribee
3. Air-show bus to AVV (I'm assuming they will run again this year)
Option 3
1. Skybus to Southern Cross station
2. Stop at liquor store and buy bottle of Havana Club
3. Metro to Werribee
4. Join Drewbles & munitalP and drive out
5. Partake in Majito sampling at the end of the day
Option 4
1. Fly direct into AVV on JQ or Tiger
Had to modify option 3 slightly. Far superior to Bacardi
I will have space to fit 3 pax comfortably, 4 if you want to be squeezy. I live in the CBD around 1km from Southern Cross station, so it's an easy meander up to my place (Where possibly pre-function Mojitos may be in full swing; not for the chauffeur alas).
Confirmation of the F22 visit was in yesterdays Australian
Ok so it seems I will be working a stand Wednesday and Thursday (come say hi ) and should have friday and saturday to myself.
What's the plan for BBQs/dinner/mojitos?
No idea. This was probably 6-8 years ago on one of the public days. Last time I went only on the industry days (as i'll probably end up doing for this one too). Prefer to get a gawk at the birds without the masses around (especially if it's a hot day, which most of the air shows are; damn weather).
Parking is plentiful but allow a good hour each way on and off the Freeway. Our weather here at the moment is quite temperate........hopefully it will stay that way.
Is there adequate parking there?
So what stand will you be on when we rock up and say hello? I'll be there on Thursday and Friday.
Will I be delayed with traffic congestion into the Airshow site?
No
Any idea what the delay will be like on Friday afternoon driving in?

Getting out is worse. It took me nearly 2 hours to get out of the paddock on Friday night in 2009!

As luck will have it I'm in Oz that weekend. I can only attend Fri afternoon and Saturday morning though, flying down and back ex BNE at lunchtime.
Sounds like the go would be to take some good music to listen to for the Friday night traffic jam (or leave a bit early) and get there really really really early on Saturday morning.
I did wonder about the shuttle from Lara, which appears to drop me near the main gate; does that avoid the queues?
