In the EVA lounge in BKK now. Compared with the new SilverKris in BKK exceeds in two key points. Two showers compared to none in SilverKris. Lage tarmac facing windows compared to no tarmac view at all in SK. In EVA, self serve selection of basic spirits red and white wines and self pour draught Heniken. SK drinks served by bar staff. Other hot food is good in both. Lunch just finished in EVA. Thai green curry and choice of two soups, dim sum ,salads and red velvet magnum ice creams, coffee machine. I'd rate EVA better overall than SQ SK because of showers and tarmac view. It is larger, too. P
Pleased I came but it is a hike if, like me, you are to connect on TG flight - to concourse C ( from near F&G). EVA lounge is at the end of the Terminal overlooking concourse F. Thankfully, TG offers all day check-in.
The BKK security and immigration queues outbound today were only 45 minutes collectively, compared with, the incoming last Friday of 1hr 15 wait for immigration into BKK. Thankfully I had no checked baggage. I had no priority inbound to BKK and it was a zoo.
Lesson> use your O6 status and come to BKK early if wanting to lounge hop *G a bit. Its a sobering walk from EVA lounge in concourse F to C concourse for my flight on TG. Fortunately, still 2 hours to boarding. I may drop into the SK on the way back. Cheers PJ
A belated thank you for the review, PJM.
Since my query above, I have also spent a long transit at BKK, and would agree with your assessment.
When I was there, both the EVA Lounge and the SK Lounge were all but empty during my long visits. A good shower at the former, which is a winning point over SK, no Champagne at either, food plentiful at both and frequently refreshed, despite the lack of "customers", pleasant staff at both.
In an alternate universe, there are the TG lounges. ventured into two of them, close to boarding time, as they were much closer to our departure gate. My horrified retreat came shortly after entry!
