Very boring to most but as it will be my first experience in a premium cabin on a full service airline exciting for me.

Booked BKK-SYD in F for October.

Will have to keep an eye on it though as if something opens up early November (1-3) id probably jump on it and cancel the current booking just to give me a couple of more days ;)

Its a great way to start! The F experience at BKK is incredible. Hopefully you get new F!

Hopefully. Im sure itll be an enjoyable eye opening experience no matter which version i get though.

I just booked it a few days later which gives me a few more days in Thailand so now need to go through the cancellation process tonight ;)
Same flight just 4 more days in LOS.

GF wasnt too pleased i was doing F without her..i dont even like Lobster haha.

2 x F SYD-xBKK-FRA for next June. :) 143,000 pts plus US $1,474.82

Used the screenshot method. Email sent at 10:41am yesterday, booking confirmation email received at 11:31am today and phone call received about 5 minutes ago.

That went through easier than I thought it was going to.

Havent been around for a while...but just recently made good use of some soon to expire Lifemiles...
Having got an AA/QF biz itin BACK from the US ..using my now AA ex US miles...needed to get over there...
Punched in SYD LAX/SFO and was offered AC via YVR....not bad i thought...then tried SYD ORD....and got NH!
Needless to say i grabbed it....787 and 773....nice.

Nice one! Just don't forget on NH the transit in Tokyo is 2 different airports so you need to clear custom, collect luggage and go from HND to NRT. But I'm sure you are already aware of that.

Yep...done it before....
Its a VERY efficient process!!!
Looking forward to comparing NHs biz with the QF Skybed Mk II.....and my "usual" NZ biz class ( when the UG clears lol)
Also get to try Air Berlin in C JFK-TXL...as part of a CLT-TLL trip...looks pretty decent!

ahhh lifemiles....its a love hate....

Yesterday I was researching options for an white xmas trip and after endless searching of options on Oneworld, I've come to realise I've left it too late........

Then I thought about *A and lifemiles......

and what do you know... a few simply plugs and voila........a few fanciful options with premium airlines were on offer:

SYD - HND - CDG on NH J in late Dec

FRA - PEK - SYD on LH and CA J in Jan

needless to say, quite happy to find availability this 'late'.

my travelling group would be quite jelly i'd say.

Actually for star alliance - this is not 'late' at all :)

Agree for oneworld you pretty much need to book a year out, but for star alliance, they generally have solid availability year-round.

Good redemption - the only issue might be the lack of ability for Lufthansa to through-check your bags and issue a boarding pass for Air China. I'm not sure of the process for Beijing, but they can't if you transit Shanghai.

Worst case you will need to clear immigration, collect bags, and go to Air China to check-in for the flight.... all of which is ok as long as you have around 2 hours between the flights.

Agree, one of the reasons I still intend to make sure I have a few *A points available (probably via LM but I have a few other options). Availability is much better!

booked for next June/July using screenshot

ADL-SIN-BKK-CTS with SQ-SQ-TG Jx2
separate ticket
HND-BKK-SIN-ADL with TG-SQ-SQ Jx2

was perhaps slightly hasty with the return flight as i had already booked HND-SYD with NH so now have to decide which to go for... really want to try NH J offering but the thought of transferring in Syd and buying a second ticket to get back to Adl is slightly discouraging..

I think it depends on the aircraft operating the TG flight HND-BKK (which will probably change between now and then anyway). I'd have taken the NH flight to SYD. Full flats guaranteed, better service than TG.

HND-PVG-SIN-PER in mid Jan for two pax in J. 80,000 points and $150US taxes and fees.

HND to PVG is on ANA and the other two are on SQ.

It wasn't a matter of 'why fly direct when you can connect' - that was just the convoluted route offered, with nothing on days either side.

As an aside - should I really be writing HND-xPVG-xSIN-PER to indicate that they are not stopovers but just transit points??
