OZ Lhr-Icn-Syd in J x1 for 85K pts + USD 320. Booked online without any issues. Can no longer select seats with phone app (or on full website) so I had to call (1300 767 234) to select seats which I just did :)

I just don't understand why Asiana's website is so pathetic, for such a "connected" country.

Anyway, I got LAX-ICN-BKK-SYD (screenshots) (OZ,TG,TG)

I could select seats for all segments via the Thai website

How recently ago did you book this?

CMB-BKK-MEL - J class - 2 pax
114K points and approx $300 in taxes

Mercifully could book this all online without needing to screen shot. Ticketed almost immediately and lets hope that the a350 is up and flying by April when we return.

Also flying the a350 with SQ so will be interesting to compare the two.

1 Feb MEL is supposed to go double daily with the A350. Now the administrative restrictions have been lifted there's no reason, in theory, for them not to put the plane on. But who knows, they may decide they need it for somewhere else (although TG is usually pretty good at sticking to plane changes, at least initially, once they are announced).

Yep saw that and hoping for no more delays or last minute changes - or at least if they are going to change chuck on the 77W ;)

77W replaces A350 BKK-LHR on the 916/917 with effect from 1 Feb. So looking good for the 350 to be freed up to come to MEL :)

Data point on LM ticket and TG irrops, Dec 2017:

Lifemiles J tickets KIX-BKK-PER on Thai Airways.
Aircraft was 3 hrs late into KIX due to European snowstorms so missed connection in BKK. TG check-in in KIX knew this would happen so only checked bags to BKK and told us to sort it out there. KIX staff gave us a meal voucher.

TG had a customer service rep waiting with a card with our names at the gate on arrival in BKK around midnight. Offered overnight accommodation and new flights BKK-DPS-PER the next morning on Thai and Garuda as no Thai J availability on their two daily direct flights. We declined those replacement flights due to the volcano situation in Bali. TG agent said that's all there is, there aren't any other flights available at all unless we were happy to fly Y. We pushed the issue and requested the next available TG J direct flight, which was in 2 days. Agent said we'd need to contact Lifemiles to organise that as Thai had already offered replacement flights. We ignored that comment and pushed harder and eventually the agent agreed to the direct TG J flight two days later.

The TG rep accompanied us from the gate all the way to the airport shuttle pickup outside including golf cart rides and fast immigration.
TG paid for the first night accommodation at the Novotel airport hotel and gave us vouchers for breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Novotel for one day. We paid the second night accommodation and meals etc, which we thought was fair. Used the time as a stopover as we'd never left the airport in BKK before. :)

Follow up data point: just saw some odd activity in my lifemiles account. .... turns out the flights Thai rebooked us on were points earning! Extra 4129 lifemiles earned on a lifemiles redemption thank you very much!

Simple bookings done online for two pax:

TLV-IST-HAN TK J 138,000 miles + $US116 taxes

SIN-IST-TLV TK J 138,000 miles + $US114 taxes

Both routes showed 4 available seats in J for the dates I was looking for in September. Both are overnight flights and each sector (even TLV-IST) served by B777 with proper J seats.

Just for reference, the cash quote for these exact flights in Y return was $US1,400. With 140% bonus each return J ticket cost $US1,900, now that’s what I call good value!

PER-SIN-BKK-CAI (SQ, SQ, MS) J - 85K plus $96.67US
Although the flights showed online they gave me an error when I went to book, so had to screenshot and email for a manual booking. The email with the booking to check said to call them (in the past they had always called me). Called using Skype, and it took 21 mins to finalise.

Yeah - they started doing the 'you call us' in about June 2017. Works well if you're n the USA - similar time zone and they speak ok English.

Screenshot bookings difficulty. I needed to burn my final lifemiles points before they expire so I tried to make a screenshot booking from pek-mel and pek -mel for my sister in law flying Y. Direct flights from pek to mel and return were only showing J class via Air china and anyway those flights did not suit as she has connecting flights to IKT. I found flights using separate sectors via lifemiles website with SQ in Y which were suitable both ways and showed available seats well within 8 hours connecting flight limit.

Interestingly the flights from Pek-Sin-Mel SQ were approved by lifemiles, however they changed the return leg to a direct flight Y class with Air China which was not even showing Y availability on lifemiles. It was only showing just J class.

I recontacted them to say there was availability using separate sectors with SQ on return flights (via lifemiles website) however they said they had no availability ??

I then suggested flights Mel-Bkk-HKG Thai Y class which would not show on lifemiles search unless I did separate sectors search again. Thankfully it was approved by lifemiles. All this took 3 days. At one stage i was going to just do the booking on the phone however the agent told me it could cost between 85 - 100 US Dollars.
