Hi I've bought lifemiles with the omaat promotion etc for the first time. Just wondering, how long to the miles take to post to your account? It's obviously not instantaneous as they didn't post yet but the money has been charged to my cc.

In my experience (I don't know if this is generally true) I can immediately see the transaction crediting the miles in my account, but the balance sometimes doesn't update until overnight (like Bogotá time or whatever). The same happens with transfers from my American Amex account.

Thanks twiningb. I could see that the purchase is showing as a transaction and that the balance hasn't updated and should happen overnight. Just wondering, in your experience, are you able to make a booking with the transaction showing but the balance not updated?

I can't tell you from personal experience; I've never been imminently booking with purchased/transferred miles. I think I may have read others' reports that they couldn't redeem until the balance was updated.

im trying to get flights from AU to KUL in March if possible, but couldnt find any not even TG, there are seats from TG (United) but not in Lifemiles, anything im doing wrong ? Wanted to use my miles before it expires in June..

Search by sector. Do every variation of star alliance, smart search, Specify airline and times. If it doesn’t done up then, it can’t be booked.

LM still does not have access to TG J/F I believe. Going to Asia, I only saw J in ANA from Syd and Eva from BNE. Asiana might be possible as I have seen J Asia to Asia but still not from/to Australia.

Yeah, I've booked J long-haul on TG back in the day (2019?) with LifeMiles, but it seems to be blocked now.

Hmm.. let me try EVA from BNE, they do have seats in Jan/May/Jun but nothing in March unfortunately :-( guess i need to find another option to redeem..

The lack of availability is certainly frustrating Just bear in mind some options raised in this thread for keeping miles alive if that's the main incentive here (assuming there will be value later in keeping them!) All the best!

I realised I wasn't going to credit any hotel points to LM the alternative was more valuable. So I am doing an Alamo 2 day rental next montg. not many points so they are going to LM. Then back to AA as usual.

It's certainly been a hell of a lot tougher with the lack of TG availability. I miss the days when you could find TG F out of SYD but am so grateful to have experienced it more than a few times.

Perhaps a little hope for those looking for fights out of Oz (mind you this requires you to be flexible). I've had some luck snaging AC J from BNE/SYD to YVR for my FIL. Seats seem to be opening up a 4 - 6 weeks out from the middle of the month (i.e. on the 15th of Jan the whole of Feb had a fair chunk of J availability out of SYD).

I've got about 160K and looking to redeem these on flights from family to come visit us from Canada but will be actively pursuing Aeroplan moving forward.

Though today the LM site would periodically disappear and I would have to go back in from the avianca site. Ended up with a message that my activity was suspicious and they thought I was a robot. Had to do a Capcha.
