Avianca LifeMiles – Bookings and Discussion

Was able to secure an EVA J reward BNE XTPE BKK late May in a multi city Booking with LifeMiles. Inbound to AUS is BR206 BKK TPE Y reward. Then connecting same morning, with BR 315 TPE BNE J reward. I was chucked/timed out by the LifeMiles system first attempt. 2nd Attempt successful. All flights are on one PNR. Hopefully, RTN leg on BR206 BKK TPE in Y will permit baggage through check? Any experience?.

If you are flying out of BNE on BR, connecting there to get back to BKK, yes, they’ll check the bags right through.

Multi city on Lifemiles only permits a return to the point of origin, so I’m guessing this is all on the one ticket.

Yes it is. One PNR. I was also able to find out how to select seats on BR website through their Manage Booking pull down. I had to add my middle name joined together with my First name not separated by a space into the First name field. I've been able to select seats on all four flights, including the Y sector BKK TPE.

no issues then… bags will be checked through.

Just booked 2 pax mixed class itenerary Melbourne to Victoria Falls in October for a safari trip in Botswana.

61,300 points + taxes pp
Booked with through online search. However, was not able to proceed with a payment, was left with a message someone from a contact centre will reach out.
Emailed support and received a call from Finance department 24 hours later. All very pleasant experience, better than Qantas call centre anyway 😀.

Struggled for ages to find flights to Europe for August/September with Qantas points (found a very roundabout route in the end), but realised I had some Lifemiles hanging around and was rather easy to use them for the way back - FRA-DEL and DEL-MEL, all AI in J.

(This site remains a godsend: Seats.aero - Avianca LifeMiles Flights)
AI isn’t anything to write home about, but apparently SQ/Tata have started to add some very limited soft product improvements.

I’ve flown several sectors on AI J, the bed was flat, champagne cold, food was good, although totally lacking in presentation.

Anyone had any recent success (or failures :( ) using the screenshot method? Anything changed or different from what we used to do pre-covid?

Wondering if anyone is having success with using www.seats.aero for LM award seats.

I have a pro account, so I can see seats into next year. Looking to use points to get 2 pax from Asia to Europe in May/June 2024 (bc there's almost no hope of getting anything from AU), but most, if not all, awards released appear to be only 1 seat.

Many of the awards available in coming weeks have multiple seats, so I take it they release them closer to the flight.

Curious to hear how others find this tool.

Can’t tell you about the tool but with TG and SQ missing there’s minimal hope of the AU-Asia portion.

Keen to hear if you think it's worth buying for a pro account vs expertflyer

With which airline? Their release patterns vary a lot according to each airline.

actually lots of availability from AU if you're willing to travel at the last minute (next few weeks). Here's a screenshot of avail from SYD in the coming week. Some of these flights have 4, 7 or I even saw 9 J seats on UA SYD-SFO leaving within a day

@Notyourbag might be useful if you like last min trips?

USA isn't asia, last I checked ;P
HND available last minute but the BKK and DEL flights aren't on LM. And of course last minute isn't the same as planning far out as most people don't have that sort of flexibility to decide in the next few weeks. Plus from PER no ANA flights, at least over east you have those.

Anyway, LM have been gutted since pre-covid, and the main Asia stops to EU have severely limited what you can book. East Coast if you can go via SYD opens up a lot more options. I didn't see TPE on that list of availability so I wonder if EVA still have seats with LM too.

Sorry I misread your message. Thought you were saying there was no avail from AU in general.

EVA has seats, both in advance and last minute, but of course out of Brisbane only.

LM is a difficult and niche program for those looking to depart AU.

I used up the last of my points on some otherwise expensive seats in business class.

Not great value, but ok
Yeah I can see the EVA departures from BNE so keeping an eye on those.

Keen to get rid of my last LM from 2020 cancelled covid trip and then I’m done. This program is not worth the effort anymore.
