re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Just flew BR TPE-xBKK-VIE and have concluded that sloping seats suck ;) Not a fan of any sloping flat seats on any airline :D

woooah! not so fast! plenty on here feel the need to justify their poor choice of airline/forced loyalty by saying angled beds are 'just fine'!!! :D

Now,now.I feel they are just fine on a short day time flight.
I can though fall asleep on takeoff on a JQ flight SYD-MCY and only wake on approach to MCY.

If my memory and research serves me correctly, that sector is operated by a BR A332 or A333 with Premium Laurel. How much do the seats recline to?

Didn't you have any other choices to fly BR on Royal Laurel to Europe?

Oh, you just can't miss the opportunity to relish in mercilessly stabbing me with a knife and kicking me on the ground, can't you? :(

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I was too slow, I wanted the 777 with the 'new J' but someone more hardcore than me just beat me to it.

lol... no it wasn't you!:D i was vaguely recalling previous threads where people have justified flying angled beds on QF...

as for daytime flights... doesn't anyone else want blinds closed and flat beds to sleep? :)

Why would you choose a 777 with new J over A380? Not flown on the new SQ J but I thought it was same as the A380 fitout?

Not sure about others but I don't find sloping lay flay beds difficult to sleep in - then again I'm fortunate that I can sleep on just about any airline seat. :D

Had a great 8 hours sleep on a sloping VA 77W business class seat on Monday (15 hour flight).

No problem with Skybeds either.

So for me, I hove come across no lay flat angled beds that represent a 'poor choice' - or would make me reconsider and look for other options.

yes yes but I'm a delicate soul (obviously)... and I'll go back to my mantra... if there was anything even remotely good about angled beds we'd all do the same at home by sawing off the end legs of our beds. but since no one I know has.... :)

Or bricks under the head of the bed which in the dark ages we used to advise people with severe reflux to do.

Why would you choose a 777 with new J over A380? Not flown on the new SQ J but I thought it was same as the A380 fitout?

There are 77W's with a new (2013) J product, that is evolutionary not revolutionary, mainly flying between SIN & LHR (although there are report these aircraft are occasionally servicing other routes as well. Details here.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I am very happy with the SQ lie flat product dajop. Sadly I can never seem to book a J award seat on SQ these days, so have downgraded to MH. :( It is the MH seats I can't stomach....I just don't arrived refreshed which is the whole point in flying J, right? Sorry Cruiser, and the champagne.;)

Was only wondering why vitagen would prefer the SQ 777 product over the A380?

Errrrm the VA 77Ws are fully-flat!

I've had a real mixed experience with fully-flat vs angled flat.

Found the SQ A330 angled seats extremely comfortable to sleep on (for the first time ever they had to wake me for landing, rather than being woken by the noise of a second meal service), but the TK A340 angled seats were quite hard to get comfortable on and therefore to sleep. The TG A330 seats are even more angled than the TG 777-200 seats and are very uncomfortable. The TG 777-200 are pretty good.

Fully-flat wise I'm 6"1 so it all comes down to the length. The SQ 77W ones were okay once you get used to sleeping diagonally. There are lots of joins/cracks in the seat and you feel every one of them. The TG A380 J was probably the best - just long enough and you can sleep straight. I found the TG F 747 seats quite uncomfortable as the headrest means your head is much higher than the rest of your body, creating a weird angle. Didnt get much sleep on that flight.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I am very happy with the SQ lie flat product dajop.

So am I! But many aren't it seems, and from what I've read on FT, the new product goes some of the way to address some of the criticisms (too hard, too wide and not enough leg support). I'd be keen to try it, to see how it compares. It seems the best way of getting on the SQ lie flat these days is with short notice, via Avianca lifemiles!

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

i agree on the SQ a330 seat... somehow they managed to do it 'right' where so many other carriers have managed a very noticeable angle. kudos to SQ.

They do everything right. Given how good their service, food, booze, lounges and transits are I would be very happy to just fly SQ A330 J for the rest of my life.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Not quite. I find the shower rooms in SIN business lounge so warm that by the time I am dressed after showering I am perspiring again. Some air conditioning in there would be good. Everything else is great!

Something that has puzzled me about SQ is how they welcome me by name the instant I step on board. They even pronounce my name properly! How do they know my name when they haven't seen my boarding pass? It blows me away every time.

#FWP but now that you mention it I have to agree.
