re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I just did 5 quick fire points transfers. $75k is the limit which gave me 150,000 points. Good to see that 28degree card fraud department rung me within the hour to see if it was all legit. Big tick for them. Also a big thanks for 'Robd "for the best equation and solution on transferring points.

I normally just get an SMS from them.

Reply 1 for - das cool or 2 for - no way Jose!

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

However far you go your total cost is $15 more in total...it's barely worth considering if you want to spend a lot.

You will hit the 50k/75k annual transfer limit if you are going to transfer a lot of miles!!!

Say you want to do a 87,500 mile redemption. At the point of redemption you can opt for miles + cash, in this case spending $690 USD will save 46,000 miles (@1.5c per miles), which means you need to purchase 41,500 miles - so 20,750 @3c, transfer gets another 20,[email protected]. So overall the cost of that 87,500 mile redemption (one way to Europe business class) is $1623 USD (or about 1.86c/mile). If the T&C allow transfers back and forth, this cost will come down.

Transfers back and forth allowed, but you will need to keep in mind the 50/75k transfer miles pa, as well as credit card company starting to reject payments if they see a lot of ping pong going on!!!

Acciunt C: 0

Account B TFs 25K to A, and 35K to C.

Account A: 50 K
Account B: 0
Account C: 70K

Account C TFs 70K to A

Final result:
Account A:190K
Account B: 0

No. Max transfer is 75k for bonus.

No. Max transfer is 75k for bonus.

Where has the max transfer of 75K been exceeded in the example given above? or are you saying the recipient account can only receive a max of 75K to get the bonus?

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Account B to A 25K
Account C to A 70k.
Total 95k.Too much.

A lot of these share mile promotions are a bit of a gimmick. (Not to say the ones with transfer bonuses, such as US and LM are.)

People forget that they can book outright awards for others or may want to consolidate so they can book a single award with their meager balances, etc.
Is that true? As I was told in the USDM thread that I would need the right points in each account and that consolidating is not allowed.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Why are people buying miles when you can do the points plus pay option which is cheaper?

Apologies if I have misunderstood the promotion.

I guess it's faster (and slightly easier) to get miles from these kinds of promos compared to points+pay and continually cancelling.

You still need at least 40% of the miles required for the points plus pay option, and it is not cheaper..the best is 1.5 c / mile; so this promo is a chance to top up your lifemiles account at 1.5c / mile which is as cheap as it is going to get (todate) to obtain lifemiles.

Thank you to you both for explaining it. So many FF offers in such quick succession...hmm.

Any suggestions for Guam to New York 28/12 or thereabouts? I know it's late but I need J/F for 3 pax.

with Lifemiles you are limited to what shows in the LM search engine. So logging in will give you the only results possible... unless you want to pay for two award tickets per person, then you could break your itinerary.

I know. I mean does anyone suggested routings that get me there or close to that might have better availability (that price within the same intra-USA zone) or hidden city ticketing that routes LGA/JFK or something? Currently, all I can see is Y on Christmas day GUM-New York. Alternatively, even GUM to YVR or close by could work too.

You've left it too late - SFO is usually about the only option for that trick anyway.
