Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

People can post what they like here...I've said a few times, I'd rather it wasn't Trick It, whether it's coded or not, because that stuff just tends to be a real negative influence on the forum. At least on FT it can be confined to a single thread in the AV forum; here, all we've got is this thread and a great resource it is too! If it becomes a place for open or closed discussion of tricks you can guarantee it will go down hill and fast.

This thread has actually been linked to by a number of blogs - they think we're really knowledgeable about AV here on AFF! Point is, people in the wider FF world know about this thread, start open posting about tricks and they will be here fast to tell you what they think! Plus bloggers will direct link to any such post, but saying it wasn't me that killed the trick! Tip of the hat to AFF n'all that!
I'm with MEL_Traveller and bcworld on this one, I have no issue with sharing within the AFF circle but this isn't a closed loop, a lot of people other than AFF lurk. Leave the tricks to FT I say, and let them get the lurkers (and all the negative comments).

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I think this thread is ideal for discussions such as getting a J seat with SQ out of AU and the like.

When we start discussing trick cities such as flying via a small village in Upper coughbucta West to save some points, then that is the domain of FT. If we start advertising the miscoded airports they will disappear.

Well if it helps, I still can't work that one out, so I will not be blogging it.

Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Just to be clear, I wasn't suggesting that people should post any dirty or illegal tricks on this forum.
I was thinking more about interesting routings similar to GUM on the USDM forum. If no one would bother to publish it on AFF then I (and I'm sure other members) would never know about it and miss out.
Although it was out there for quite a while, it was never cancelled and anyone who had a bit of patience dealing with the US agents could enjoy this "loophole".
So, if anyone knows about any interesting routes on LM and wants to share I will be grateful and I promise not to blog about it :)

the difference is, GUM was published on every major blog already.

the other routes may not be yet.

GUM IS an interesting routing on LM. Its works extremely well with the USDM concept!

It's only in the past 18 months that GUM has been frequently discussed on here although the concept has been around for many years. I was one of the first AFFers to make a booking (and I think the first to manage a stopover which REALLY got people thinking about the possibilities). I saw a GUM itinerary on FT from many years ago where someone wanted to go J to SIN for a wedding but didnt have enough points but realised he only needed to be in SIN for <24 hours so booked a trip all the way to GUM stopping in SIN for a night for the wedding. I wanted to go to Japan cheaply so started to consider the possibilities....

There are plenty of 'deals', routes, concepts etc out there, you just need to have the interest and passion to dig enough.

This and a reasonable knowledge of geography coupled with a table listing the zones that apply to a specific program, and it's not too difficult. They're not really tricks, just taking advantage of anomalies in geographic zoning and route networks. That's why mileage based awards (such as QF's awards) or individual sector-by-sector awards (such as NZ Airpoints) are much more difficult (impossible?) to game (other than perhaps where two airports are in close proximity to an mileage zone boundary, such as one being 590 miles from destination and the other being 620 or something like that).

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Okay managed to get it resolved by calling up life miles. Took about 30 mins but they ticketed on the spot. Pretty happy I got Bordeaux-Istanbul-Bangkok-Singapore to conclude my Europe trip next year.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

usually TG open a pair everytime so if there is 1 that is probably the last one.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Has anyone successfully gotten 2 seats on SQ F within 14 days? Despite being the perfect opportunity to tick yet another W off the bucket list, I've decided that I'd rather avoid our 14 hour stop in BKK if we can, as a result of the TG involuntary reschedule as previously discussed. I'm also thinking that the recent downgauge from 380 to 77W for some of the MEL/SYD services may have also resulted in extra F (non-Suites) capacity which hopefully means a slightly better chance of F redemption through partners. Remember this being rather easy back in the pre-New First era.

The only SQ F I have seen between SIN<>Aus is the suites availability on SIN<>SYD (SQ221/2). I have seen this available for 2 seats within T-14. Never seen F on 77W or 773 available.

I didn't realise they released Suites to *A partners! Which actually works out better for us as departing from either CDG or ZRH (would have been willing to hop over to somewhere like MXP if we had to 'settle' for the 777). Naturally I'd be ecstatic if I can get Suites. :p

The only suites availability I know of are on SYD<>SIN and bookable with LM (a quirk?).

FWIW I have just looked at the above both ways and there is no F availability in the next few weeks...

No 3x offer here. Maybe it will go live after the 2x offer finishes at the end of the month.
