re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I just logged in and when I go to buy miles it says I am "Joe Blogs" (fake name used) who has 11 million points AKA not me! Anyone else having this issue? All other aspects of my login are mine though.

Did you book something nice?!

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I've booked my first LM redemption! Have booked SIN-CDG in J on SQ for April 2015 (I didn't expect availability on SQ, but have read it's usually good now from ex-SIN?)

However it's approaching 48hrs since making the booking and it still hasn't been ticketed. I've read through here that it can take a few days, but being my first LM redemption I'm a little anxious!
Should I be getting worried and give them a call or will it no doubt come through eventually?

It'll come through eventually. Seeing as you aren't travelling anytime soon it's probably a low priority ATM for LM..

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Does anyone know the following: if I book an economy award using LM for Air Canada on a route when a normal economy fare does not come with a checked baggage allowance (it's $25 for 1st bag, $25 for 2nd bag etc), will I need to purchase baggage from CA directly, or would such an award include a bag?

I believe such Y awards will come with no included bag allowance. You would pay for any bags not in your allowance at the airport check-in counter.

Note that status members of Air Canada's programme Aeroplan, as well as Star Alliance Silver and Gold members, have bag fees waived for the first bag. Also note that some connected itineraries, even in Y, may also entitle you to a free baggage allowance.

Haven't really been following this thread or the mammoth FT thread when it comes to LM tricks so hoping bcworld/MEL_traveller et al can assist.

I'm searching for a route C6-C1 and the booking engine displays the flights but when I select the flight and hit continue it comes up with this:

Sorry, There was problem while processing your transaction.
Please try again. If the problem persists or you need additional information please contact LifeMiles Support.

If you want to talk in code you'd be better off over at the FT thread.

I have no problems revealing the route. Unsure if that is acceptable or still pisses people off.

Anyhow, I don't know if the route is causing the error or if this is just something LM does from time to time?

Also does the T-14 thing with SQ availability only apply to J/F? I can see Y availability in September...

You're not the only one. See #2239 on the FT thread and the responses.

Had a strange thing happen, came up with an error when authorising payment. Points have been taken out but doesn't seem to be in the queue for ticketing.... :x

How can you tell if it's in the queue for ticketing or not?

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Normally my previous bookings I get issued an email receipt and the e-ticket comes in within 24 hours. I didn't receive one this time and it looks like the taxes have not charged my cc yet, only the booking fee of 25 USD.

i can't find the thread ATM and a friend is in the middle of a booking on LM and has lost everything. What is the upshot of the outcome of the warning message?

(I wasn't paying attention when i read what the problem and solution was :()

Why would people get pissed off when you share information that can benefit other AFFers?
If some members choose to keep certain "special" routes to themselves, they have the right to do so but no need to discourage others from sharing.

it's not particularly in relation to sharing on AFF... it's the bloggers that pick it up and then profit from it by re blogging. that's somewhat unhelpful to us here.

Is that a rhetorical question, if you've even looked at the FT forum you'd know the answer! You might not agree of course but the relevant arguments have been made over and over (and then over and over again and again and again).

I don't spend much time on FT anymore, but I'm well aware of the negativity that is going on there.
What I'm trying to say is, if members can't share things they know because others may get angry at them, they will just keep to themselves and everyone in the community looses.
I know there are those who take advantage of the information they learn here to blog about it or try to make a profit out of people who can't be bothered subscribing to sites like this one. That's life I guess, not all are decent people.

People can post what they like here...I've said a few times, I'd rather it wasn't Trick It, whether it's coded or not, because that stuff just tends to be a real negative influence on the forum. At least on FT it can be confined to a single thread in the AV forum; here, all we've got is this thread and a great resource it is too! If it becomes a place for open or closed discussion of tricks you can guarantee it will go down hill and fast.

This thread has actually been linked to by a number of blogs - they think we're really knowledgeable about AV here on AFF! Point is, people in the wider FF world know about this thread, start open posting about tricks and they will be here fast to tell you what they think! Plus bloggers will direct link to any such post, but saying it wasn't me that killed the trick! Tip of the hat to AFF n'all that!
