Maybe it was a bit too cryptic... I didn't want to reveal JT's new discovery at the drop of a hat.

I've since conferred with JT and we were indeed talking different routes. So at the risk of testing your patience a little further, think of the origin (O2) as something that's all around us and best served at altitude.

Don't we have a closed list of tricks for avianca? (ie freely available to those who have suitable length of ties/involvement to AFF etc)

I thought the debate on whether to use coded language had been had on AFF? (Resolved that we shouldn't, but should also protect the forum from bloggers)

lobo76 started a spreadsheet with a number of different pages for LM, VA, QF etc. Quite a few of them are out of date now, but some of it is still relevant. I will have a look for the thread that it is discussed in.

Significant award chart changes coming on Oct 15th?

The information posted on the LM website talks only about prices for itineraries involving Europe...and the information given is very incomplete. However the most important part to take note of is probably:

As for changes in air ticket redemption with Star Alliance member airlines, these include reductions up to 15.000 miles and increases up to 11.000 miles in Economy Class; also reductions up to 25.000 miles and increases up to 50.000 miles in Business Class. Both cases apply for roundtrip flights from Europe.

Gee that is vague, how are you meant to know which zones! It just refers you to check the award search after October 15th! Too late to burn then!

Pretty ridiculous, but then that program has always had its good and annoying bits, at least it wasn't arbitrary overnight....

I managed to book a couple of redemptions for May next year at reduced prices although one I might have to change as the connection between two flights doesn't look doable...

Lets hope the majority of the remaining smart ways to use the miles stay available... Because they don't talk about Asia or us, hopefully it only relates to tickets on actual Avianca routes or ones that their *A partners also fly...

I am seeing F5 A5 on EF on a CDG-BKK TG flight but it is showing no availability on LM - is there any chance that these seats will be released at a later stage to LM?

Yes, TG normally release seats closer to the date

So for Australian departures it looks like North America flights are the big lovers. To Europe J class is actually reduced back to the original 85K but F class is increased. Looks to me like J class redemptions to North and South Asia are also lower...not too bad!
