Someone who wanted to fly to the US would be one guess.

That's my guess as well. You'll need to find a 'way' to get back to OZ though!

Any guesses when the next promo will be on? I assume Dec will have one but any chances we might get one earlier? Itching for TG F . Also, I know that TG is generally wide open, but I can't seem to get anything on BKK-NRT/HND for 2 pax on most days.. Its only really 3-4 days a month that have availability. Is this the normal trend?

But lets be honest.. TG F vs UA F and another half a day! Who in their right minds would go with UA? :X

Actually... UA F is not bad at all. It has a superior bed than TG and the service is pretty evenly matched. The only real difference is a couple of menu items (no caviar on UA and no sundaes on TG). No Pjs on UA, but their amenity kit wins.

was pleasantly surprised at UA F recently on SFO-ICN, but found the bed too narrow. TG F bed on the A380 however was fantastic.

Agree on the amenity kits but the no PJs is pretty annoying.

TYO is the hardest route to get TG F on- they usually only release 1 seat. HKG is much easier

I just did a dummy booking and the Tg website seems to indicate there are 7 revenue seats available in F, but via Lifemiles it isn't showing award availability for two pax.

I would call TG in Australia, have them review your booking, and ask them to put you back in to F. Explain you will get Avianca to fix the tickets once TG has made the reservations back in F.

Try that for starters... I would have suggested calling LM first, but as the award seats aren't there, might be more hassle in trying to deal with them rather than TG at first instance.

+1 on calling TG in Australia - they've been very helpful in the past. Explain what a nightmare trying to call AV/LM is.

I'm on Thai F BKK-SYD this Sunday evening for the first time. If I pre-order a meal, does that preclude one from selecting something off the menu if that looks better at the time?

Out of interest and for future reference how often does Avianca run this kind of promo? Once a year or more often? Also what was the cost (thereabouts will suffice) of purchasing the miles with the 100% bonus?

I neglected reading this forum until far too late so had no idea of the delights of LM.

Id mostly be interested in travel to north or south Asia so 40k each way in J sounds pretty good so long as its less than 2c per mile..hell I paid TG $1200 to bkk in economy which made me feel filthy.

One more thing does HKG fall under China in the table?

Some form of promo...buy or transfer...is probably running approx every 2 months.

What was the cost? It WAS US15 per 1000 during promos. Next time it will be US16.50 per 100 as the cost of buying miles has just gone up.

Bear in mind you don't need to buy 80k miles in a promo to do the return trip, the minimum you need is 40% of that, the rest can be topped up with cash at close to the promo buy miles rate when booking. If you want to travel several times a year this is a better option as the number of miles you can buy is limited per calendar year.

Like I said...you don't need 160k, you need 40% of that i.e. 64k. The rest you can top up with cash when booking at essentially the same cost as buying miles in a promo.

I'm trying to get from FRA-HKT on the 2nd November, and it's not giving me anything. I can get to BKK, via FCO, but it won't give me the onward flight to HKT, however when I search FCO-HKT it give me lots of options.

I've tried changing the time, but still no luck. Any other suggestions?

I think it's just sold out (or the combination of flights they are willing to give are not available) for the date you want. It's working on other days.

If you have to travel on that specific date, your only other option will be to buy the flights leg by leg, which will cost more points obviously.
