re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

The issue is now that the numbers of people they would be dealing with for this process would have increased massively not helping anyone.

maybe it is helping, maybe someone somewhere is noticing and trying to fix it...

But it seems that only region got affected is Oceania trying to transit in SE Asia. So I'm not sure if the workload have increased enough for LM to bother to fix it!

The Xmas/NY period with lower number of staffs might affected LM's efficiency as well. But good to know most people got their ticket.

how long did it take them to 'fix' Guam. a year++. and that would have come at a huge cost to them.

Huge is a relative term. Somehow I suspect there are a considerably higher factor of no of people wanting to fly Aus - Europe in comparison to those that flew to Guam. Sometime I think people who frequent AFF (and FT for that matter) get an incorrect impression of "normal".

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Hi everyone,

Novice guy here. I'm still new to all of this and been focusing a lot on One World and now need to focus on Star Alliance as I'm looking at a trip to Seoul from Sydney around May 2015. It looks like award J flights outbound (OW) are relatively available but inbound via J is limited. Any suggestions on this? Secondly, came across Avianca lifemiles recently and looks like one way in J from ICN-SYD has good availabilty on Asiana (prefer non stop as I have limited holiday time)? What are the good people here's opinion of J on Asiana? Any when do you think the next 100% bonus miles promotion for Avianca will be? Sorry for the many questions. Much Appreciated.

gum pricing affected a lot more people than those wanting to actually go to gum (who I suspect were rather small in number).

It was cheap way to get to Japan from many parts of the world, and also an extraordinarily cheap way to cross the Pacific in F for just a handful of points.

In F? Gum didn't offer F class

I did oz601 which is ICN-SYD a few months ago. Whilst it's certainly better than Y it wasn't the best J cabin I've been in. Main problem being trying to get comfortable on an overnight flight in an angled lay flat seat.

Yes, I appreciate that but I also think our membership of AFF and FT makes us think this it was more prevalent than it really was.

Also I bet very few of those people would have been ringing US about any problems (some notable idiots excepted).

Positive Experience with Avianca Call centre: Phone Number +1 800 284 2622

My 2 flights with Swiss airlines PRG-ZRH-BRU on 12th july, 2015 got cancelled by swiss airlines. (I only found out by doing a routine check on checkmytrip.com )
Having read the nightmare stories about the Avianca call centre, i was expecting the worst.

However after taking about 4 minutes to get through to the right department, it only took the representive there (Manuela) about 60 seconds to check that my flights had been cancelled by swiss airlines and within 60 seconds found new flights with Lufthansa and allocated them to me at no cost. I had an email confirmation within 2 minutes, and looking at checkmytrip it was there already. Total length of the call was 7 minutes.

A Big tick for the Avianca call centre operator, Manuela. :)

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Sorry to rehash same question but does anybody know roughly how frequently (per year) Avianca have their 100% bonus promotion and when the next one is likely? Much appreciated.

usually every 2-3 months.

but with fuel prices plummeting, there's no guarantee they'll 'need' to do another one any time soon.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Data point for cancelling lifeless redemption:

Total time 53 minutes - 18 minutes on hold initially, followed by further 5 minutes on hold while transferred to another operator. 30 minutes then to cancel 2 pax (1 booking). Credit card for $US50 cancellation fee has to be entered once for each pax. All in all not as bad as expected. Points back in account straight away.

Now off to try and join up (LHR --> BKK) and (BKK --> SYD) F redemption on TG....

Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I made a booking last year which was 75k miles but after the changes, the same route is now 90k miles. Now I need to change the date on that booking. My Q is, will I have to add the extra 15k miles as per the new chart or I only need to pay the $150 changing fee?

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Hi lifemile gurus. I've got a dilemma and would appreciate advice on this. Last Sept made a booking which took my monies US$2.5k but never issued ticket, so i emailed lifemiles and requested refund. They recognised the issue and said it'd be refunded in Oct/Nov, as it'd take normal 30 business days to be processed. Waited until early Dec, then emailed them back said i hadnt received it, they checked and said they escalated and to wait another 10 days....so its January and a whole new year and still no monies.....any suggestions on tactics to get my monies back?....i hate trying to call them and listening to the damn avianca jingle....
