re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

I can't even see them with SQ. I cannot see anything out of Aus to SIN on SQ. I also can't see anything (except one fluke) to BKK on TG.

I really hope it's not deliberate. Who is blocking whom...

All TG's can be booked manually by contacting LM as long as you can see spaces on separate route. There are at least 3 fellow members in this forum who managed to book their tickets with TG to Northa Asia and Europe connecting at BKK.

SQ premium cabin is completely out! They have blocked all space ex-AUS on J. (Although I heard someone can still find the occasional PER-SIN). You can confirm this unfortunate fact on ANA website. There is just absolutely no SQ J seats ex-East Coast Aus. You can still book Y though.

Plenty of SQ J ex PER T-14 when I was looking yesterday.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

perth-singapore is not a problem. but east coast is.

anyway... feeling better I burned most of my LM. the fix doesn't seem to be forthcoming... and they well and truly know about it.

Actually this isn't true. I didn't think it was and I have confirmed it's not. See below:

It is definitely an issue with LifeMiles not an issue with *A access generally to ex-AU SQ J.

Very interesting... does this mean that we can call up LM and book SQ flights manually?

They are very relcant to do it for you. I finally got someone to do it, and now am waiting for the billing department to call back to collect the taxes - no one has called and when I rang they refused to put me through to them. AM very frustrated as TG cancel bookings that are not ticketed in 72 hours and are nearing that deadline.

You have the reservation number right? My experience with LM is that it is much easier to contact them via email than calling. If they haven't called you perhaps it is better to chase them up with email again and remind them that ticket has to be issued within 72 hours.

This is not a good news. I thought the process would be smooth as silk...... Unfortunately until LM is willing to fix it I'm afraid this is all we've got.

Yes I have the reservation number. They just simply refuse to put you through to the billing department when you phone. Tried emailing twice. There website also appears to be very unstable at the moment - mostly coming up with error messages.

Let's hope, fingers crossed, that they are fed up with all the manual requests and the error message is related to them actually fixing it at the moment.

We can always hope.......

LM will only ticket IF:

  • both sectors are available on the website to book individually, but can't be booked when searching the through connection (so, if SQ is not showing ex SYD/MEL/BNE/ADL, they won't book it anyway)
  • the transit time does not exceed 8 hours for the flights you have found
  • the through connection you find is one that is normally offered (for example, if you were to find SYD-BKK, but then find BKK-TPE-NRT, LM won't book SYD-BKK-TPE-NRT as it is not what they would normally offer. The will book a plain SYD-BKK-NRT)

So, how did it go? Did they call? Have you got your ticket issued?

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Never called. I tried to call again this morning, they said reservation had been cancelled and cannot get it back. Am so angry, but nothing I can do. So have mucked around now for a week and lost out completely.
I will not be buying any more miles that's for sure, and will just book point to point tickets at some stage to use them up.

cough! That's really bad news! I thought whatever the glitch is will just be an inconvenience to contact LM, but if this happens, then it really sucks!

sorry to hear that. I too was apprehensive and called and sent a follow-up email. They called me just before the ticketing deadline.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

In a similar position, itinerary on hold, will be cancelled tonight (+72). Fired off a polite gee up email yesterday and this morning. Fingers crossed.......

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Wow, my December experience was incredibly excellent in comparison - sent an email in the evening, had a request for further info (screenshots) a couple of hours later so I sent them through immediately; the itinerary sent through at 7am the next morning and had multiple calls from them (my phone was on silent) at 10am the next morning. All ticketed and done by midday - less than 24 hours later.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

30m before the tg booking cancellation deadline avianca us customer services called (10.30pm). Then had a bizarre 3 way conversation to take payment with the U.S. Agent acting as translator to a South American agent. Successful in the end, and the agent told me they were constantly reporting the segment none tying to their it department. Had no info on sq availability just said what's on the website is what they can see.......

The issue is now that the numbers of people they would be dealing with for this process would have increased massively not helping anyone.
