re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Guys is it possible to book air new zealand J from AKL-PER using LM ?
Any tips ? Perhaps just very far out or days from departure ? Just wondering what the go is as I am looking for this October and am quite flexible but can't find anything not even in Y.
Air NZ doesn't release any J seats to partners at all, they used to but not anymore

Cheers but its all good I just saw that the revenue fare is A$1,329, not too shabby for a 7.5 hour flight with an international grade 789 product in J.

a couple of reasons. If you can sleep perfectly well on an angled bed... that's fine. But if you can't, there's a point where practicality takes over and you make the best of the situation. What's the point arriving tired after a flight in business class if you can arrive refreshed after sleeping soundly in economy?

Booking economy is potentially unlikely to give you three or four seats to lie on... but if business class is the only class offered and you ask the crew to reserve a triple seat in economy (if loads allow), you'll be accommodated if they can. It's a one minute transaction, done discreetly. No one is any the wiser (except maybe your seat mate in business who thinks you were a seat poacher!! :))

You can always head back to your seat for the meal service before landing if you wish. (I usually just stay put and have the economy offering without all the fuss of the front cabin.)

MEL_Traveller...what have they been giving you to drink on your latest flights?? I normally very much agree with you but I think you've lost the lost on this one! Let's agree to disagree here! :p

Plenty of times I've had relatively short red-eye connecting flights intra-Asia or Gulf-India. At midnight or 1am I'm usually tired. I'll happily sleep over three or four seats in economy rather than stay awake on an angled bed simply for the sake it's 'business class'.

What am I missing out on in business?

I'll take my angled lie-flat over 3/4 seats in Y with the gaps in the middle of the seat any day!

I did a LM redemption last year from AUS-xICN-HNL in J. After the flight, which was on angled seat, and was double the flight time, I reckoned I would rather do the 10 hours in Y (on 3 seats across), than 20 hours in J on angled seats.

I guess it depends on how easily you can sleep on which "bed" in an aircraft.

Not that the angled beds on TG are without gaps and metal bars (in all the wrong places :() However - the economy seat issue is easily solved... business class duvet on the bottom as a mattress to smooth out kinks, economy blanket on top to keep warm if necessary. And business class pillow for comfort.

Nice boomerang. I take it you 'forgot' to board the plane back to the USA? ;)

Did I word that badly? Outbound to HNL was LM redemption. Return flight was VA J redemption. Best sleep ever on VA.

Since had better sleep on CX MEL-xHKG-CDG return DXB-xHKG-MEL.

Did you mean from AUS (Austin TX) or from AU (Australia)?

Maybe JessicaTam thought you were going from AUS (Austin, Texas) to Honolulu via Seoul, hence the boomerang comment..?

EDIT: Dang, beaten by JessicaTam herself :P

Ha ha, I see what you mean. I said AUS because I couldn't remember whether we left from MEL or SYD. Now I recall it was from SYD (stayed at the Rydges SYD hotel). Whoopsie

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

We did visit TX on the trip though - SAT and DFW.

Is there a secret to this cancellation thing?

I ended up getting availability for a couple of days after my BKK-SYD booking so jumped on it whilst i was at work, now trying to cancel the original booking, Is there a secret to doing so with minimal fuss?

I called the US skype number and the guy i was speaking to was helpful and we got all the way to the end but id forgotten my PIN, i hung up and reset the PIN, called back and got someone else who was unable to help, something about the Lifemiles team starting in 5 hours.

It would have been 15 mins between calls, shpuld have remembered thr first guys name :/

Theres no time limit on cancelling is there?

Not on topic - but - it MUST be time for another 2x1 buy promotion! I have Christmas flights to book Avianca Santa.

I know last year we had a 2x1 buy in September 2014 - so I have my fingers crossed. Anyone have any guesses when we will see it next?

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Pretty much every 2 to 3 months for either the 3 for 1 or the equivalent share promo!

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Ill never complain about an Aussie banks call centre again after this experience haha.

Just got transfered 3 times and ran out of time to cancel....we try again later!
