re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

No, I'm saying that you can do it yourself online if the whole itinerary is in J...be humble -:)

I would still be grateful if you could explain how. I'm yet to see domestic NH J availability on any route.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Have you checked within 90 days of departure?

I have. If I can't find it on a route like HND-ITM or HND-CTS, I don't know where it will be. But happen to keep looking if someone can give me an example of it existing.

No problem booking Y, even way outside the 90-day window.

What route are you looking for?

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

At this stage I want a proof of concept. Upthread the claim was that it's easy to add a domestic J leg to an international J leg in or out of Japan. The only "domestic J" I've seen to date has been cabotage-like in nature, never seen pure NH J.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I was wondering whether any one had seen the 8 hour connection rule in the terms and conditions - I couldn't seem to find it. I want to try my luck on BNE to BKK which arrives at 8.10pm BKK time and then get a SWISS flight to Zurich at 1300 the next day. will obviously need to use screenshots, so wondering whether I will get away with it

Why not try and see what they say?

It has need discussed several times before. The reason for the 8hrs rule was cuz the online search engine never showed connection more than 8hrs hence the assumption of the 8hr connection rule.

Now we have the screenshot methods and realized that many of the legit connections was never shown on the online search engine previously.

So please try and report back if you are successful.

Not 'never'. There were certainly some connections online in the 12-13 hour range...some UA/UA ones from memory.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Guys I want to book TG F SYD-BKK-KIX for 2 pax in Mid-late Feb.
Should I just book these a week or a few days beforehand or try and book them sooner?

The problem with booking earlier is normally it only shows availability for 1 pax. Will another F award seat free up if I book 1 pax?

Given the lack of a response, the fact that I've searched at least a thousand times over three years and never seen NH J domestic, and a desire to actually leave useful information here for others, I'm just going to call this a crock.

Summary: Do not expect to be able to add a domestic NH J leg to an international J flight.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Does anyone know how the InsideFlyer extra 10% bonus works when buying LMs under the current 2for1 + 35% bonus. I registered with Insideflyer then found the link to their Award Store for LifeMiles and entered my LM number in the box provided - but what next - how do I link this to my yet to be purchased LMs??

Also - a few posts back someone noted that when searching SYD-HNL LM offer SYD-LAX-HNL - this quirk also "works" with AC when search ex-BNE to various points in Asia (e.g. ICN, NRT,...) assuming there is availability on both segments of course. I've also noticed that since AC introduced its BNE flight, AC award availability in J SYD-YVR and BNE-YVR seems a lot better than it used to be. (Personally I can't be bothered trying to exploit these LM tricks - I'm happy if I can just get valid routing which is not always possible - this seems somewhat better with the screen shot method - but why can't LM allow valid bookings on SQ??)

But you can easily find award space on OZ J, CA J and BR J to some extend that will take you to many other domestic cities in Japan. Whereas with AA you can only do with JL or AA. What you are judging is based on availability, which entirely depend on how many award seats the partners are wiling to release, and has nothing to do with the value of the program.

In my experience, I would say Star Alliance releases more award spaces than Oneworld.

I agree, AA's biggest advantage over LM is the ability to have mixed cabin so even if there is no J available for domestic leg, you can easily add Y to it, even to a F redemption. But the way I see it, for the $500 USD I saved, (~¥61000) I can easily buy JR pass that will take me anywhere in Japan in comfort including many local trains, and I can spend a day or 2 in Tokyo with hotel fees included.

But everyone has their use of miles. I personally believe LM has more value (assuming no further devaluation) than AA after Mar 2016 because it works for me. I personally won't be buying any AA in the foreseeable future unless they reduce the cost of mile (which I believe they will).

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Patmcrotch. I have book syd to kix for mid next year. I booked 1 x first and 1 x bus a couple of months ago hoping that a second f becomes available. It hasn't happened yet and I keep checking every few days but I don't think it will happen but I will keep checking. I would suggest at least getting the 1 x first and keep checking. From other posts I have read they don't tend to have 2x first from bkk to kix.

There is plenty of availability one or two weeks out for the BKK-KIX leg, Much more than the SYD-BKK leg.

Keep watching 1 or 2 weeks out from your trip and you should be able to get 2 in F no problem. You might have to change dates +/- 2 days though.

Wonderful thanks for that. I will keep a look out. I didn't think they ever had 2x first seats to kix.

What problem are you experiencing? Everyone all had some problem with LM website from time to time. That's part of LM's feature. Many times not a big issue and will fix by itself. Others are permanent like the IT glitch since last year but we overcame that by screenshot. So please be more specific so we can help you.
