re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Some would claim this just indicates a preference for western food!

It indicates a preference for good food, whichever cuisine. Bland food dun float my boat (and no excuse for this by TG). A juicy steak with half a dozen accompaniments - cooked mighty fine by the chefs at OZ - does.

Well 2 longhaul TG flights in the last month and I agree their food has improved dramatically.Really good Thai food with great combinations of spices.

Don't ever try "steak" on BA then. Bloody awful.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Air India is a viable alternative if you want guaranteed flat beds (on their 787s) and want to get fed and watered. No bells and whistles. Service might not be doting. But you will arrive refreshed. If you're scratching for availability and Air India meets your requirements they're not 'bad'.

I was first off the plane for my transit at DEL and was through in 2 minutes. The airport is similar to BKK (lots of walking), but is actually a nicer airport overall.

I concur with this. Air India 787 hard product is very good ~ leg room is very important to me and they probably offer one of the most spacious fully flat J seats between Australia and Europe, long but also reasonably wide. Service: not doting, but not too bad. In flight rations: okay if you like Indian food, which I do. Lounge in DEL: just okay, but alright for an hour or two.

Gday

Speaking of OZ- i have a lifemiles redemption coming up in April with BKK- ICN and ICN- SYD on OZ and I just noticed both legs have had a time change of 20 minutes. No dramas with MCT's and flight numbers are the same but one change means it is a date change. On the OZ website and also checkmytrip the flight with the date change shows as unconfirmed. When i go to the OZ website it asks me to confirm the change but when i click that button it fails and says i need an email address, phone number, and first name. Do i need to do anything? I dont want to ring Lifemiles as that is just a bad idea. Might try and call OZ tomorrow and see if they can confirm it all. Anyone had similar experiences?

Thanks.

Pele.

To close this off- i rang Asiana and told them what happened. She said she could see the flight time changes but couldnt reissue the itinerary. I persisted but she said if Avianca issue it only they can reissue it. I emailed Avianca and they came back and said i had to call the (Monty Python sound effect) department of involuntary changes. I rang the Bogota office this morning and the bloke could see the flight time changes and said he would reissue it manually and it would be emailed through in about 20 minutes. Sure enough it was reissued with the new flight times and all looks good on check my trip and the Asiana website.

The lady at Asiana said as it was only a 20 minute time change it wasnt serious and i didnt need to do anything. I would have taken her advice except that the 20 minute movement affected the date which I believe made the flight appear as unconfirmed.

Anyway i am back on track.

Pele.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

That happened to me last year when there was an aircraft change. Flight showed unconfirmed and could no longer pick/change the seat. Asiana wouldn't do anything. A quick call to LM fixed it. I ended up cancelling anyway as I wasn't happy with angle flat seat on 747 LAX - ICN (changed from A380).

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I've been trying to get Flights from SYD to BKK to KIX in March TG F (50K). I already have one F and 2 J Seats that I secured 11 months out on those flights.
I am trying to get another one. Ive got alerts setup on Expert flyer and have been checking myself for one more seat. At different times a seat has become available for either sector however not at the same time. Now its getting closer to the date of flying I grabbed one BKK to KIX.( 50K) . If I have to secure the first sector SYD to BKK with another 50K points, is it possible to contact lifemiles and combine the bookings so that the total points will be 50k for both sectors. Has anyone tried this ??

no no.
youll have to cancel both, pray the F seats go back to inventory, hope that the F/F combo shows up on LifeMiles, if not send screenshots and hope LM can combine it as one itinerary...

I tried the same for syd/hnd and it's a no-no.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

tks for the info. I grabbed the BKK/KIX seat as they were drying up according to expertflyer. Only one seat taken on the first sector by Mrs D. however no award seats have been offered for over 2 months.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Only 13 minutes on the [very bad] line to Columbia. The 'cancellation system' is down for the next five hours or so.

Anyway - on the positive it has been confirmed (again) that cancellations can be processed even after your departure date (ie a 'no show'). One year from ticket issue date (not travel date).

I'm not aware of any change to the current fees - USD50 to cancel, USD150 for changes.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I didn't doubt that my flights may have stated $200, but I'm not sure they're correct. There's no chatter anywhere regarding an increase in the cancellation fee. My ticket yesterday was only $50, although that was issued last year.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

The ticket I showed above was booked yesterday(Thursday), my 2 other tickets booked in December still show the $50 cancellation fee, hopefully not a sign of things to come.
I cancelled 2 tickets last week which were $50 each, fairly easy transaction with a total of 12mins from start to finish, miles took about 36 hours to repost to my account

Re: Rumour:[Denied by RR] Qantas to ban JQ SYD-MEL pax from F lounges & send to J lou

I wonder if there is some error when the information is transmitted to third party sites (like check my trip) and the cancellation fee is incorrectly identified.

If if it does become $200 LM will only be useful for close in flights.
