re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

No cancel allowed on partially used tickets! That's why it's prudent to book two one ways unless your return is confirmed!

https://www.lifemiles.com/eng/abo/wnb/wnbtercond.aspx

"A partially used ticket is not refundable."
"Route changes are not allowed on award tickets."

Thanks for the information - I almost always book 2 1-ways but didn't this time due to LM's issues with AC (always errors out and you need to go via the often painful screen shot method).

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

OZ is flying its A380 from Icn to Syd from 29/10/17 to 24/3/18... having pulled it from Icn to Jfk during the northern Winter months...unfortunately it is not selling F bet Icn and Syd and you can't select the F seats either :(. I just took advantage by booking Hkg-Icn-Syd in J for 40 K miles :)

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Quick question... if one is searching and finds 2 J seats and then proceeds to payment on one account (but does not book) and then searches using a second account and another 2 J seats come up, does that mean there are 4 seats available? Or does one need to do a full booking before these seats are removed from search?

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Additional seats don't show up instantaneously, and they may not even become available. If you must, book the two, monitor of two more show, and if they do, go ahead n book. If they don't, either book another cabin (first, economy) or cancel altogether. You can't force your luck!!
But, it's better to check overall seat availability using tools suck as kvs or expert flyer. If you tell us your route and dates, I can check for you. The more seats available, the higher chance of some more being released for award booking.

Thank you for the offer but given the great difficulty in finding 3 J seats (or even 2 J and 1 economy) I'm highly considering just taking Scoot business to Singapore and then starting the flight from Singapore to Europe with LM. Alongside that gambling and booking 2 J hoping another 1 comes up it's just too tedious then having to cancel if nothing works out.

Economically I think it's okay as it costs less points on LM and perhaps even cheaper as the flight to Singapore on Scoot may cost less than the points that would have been used otherwise. Only disadvantage is Scoot business is more like premium economy, lounge access coming back and needing to pick up luggage at Singapore to continue flight.

Much as I'd love to fly NZ F:

You could bet your luck with 125 USD and book only one seat. If another becomes available, then book the remaining two seats. If it doesn't, spend 100 usd to cancel and forfeit the 25 usd booking fee!

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Hi folks,

not sure what to do. I booked a ticket through support@ on Monday as single segments were available (LAX-VIE on OS; VIE-IST-SEZ on TK, all J) but the search engine was not showing anything. I got an answer after 5 hours and within 12 hours my booking was confirmed. After I paid, I realized that I had reserved the ticket in my name instead of my wife, so I called to cancel the reservation. After all was done, I re-emailed suppot@ asking for another reservation, same routing, but for my wife. After 12h I got an email saying they were escalating to the relevant department. However, it's been 48 hours now and I still have not heard back.

Any idea of what might be going on?

thanks

yeah... it's the weekend there now. Another 17 hours or so and they should be back in the office :)

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Oh I was under the impression they worked over the weekend?

i usually get a reply within a few hours during the week. Requests put in on a Sunday don't seem to elicit any response until the Monday. Can't actually vouch for Saturday as I haven't put in a request on that day.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Um...how would anyone on this his forum know? They might be dragging their feet over the weekend, or investigating your peculiar case, or no availability, or a hundred number of reasons. Call them if you can't wait!

I actually have a request in right now, submitted Sunday morning Columbia time, and no response. So I suspect at least part of the delay for the OP is that it is the weekend. Otherwise responses have always been within a few hours. So unless they're ignoring both of us, I'm hoping it's just a case of the weekend :)

I see. The support people acknowledged my case early Friday pm - and they have answered to my emails yesterday and today. It's the "specialized department" that seems unresponsive. But they did mention it might take up to 72 hours and to check back tomorrow.

oh, seriously?? Then it's just my request that's gone unanswered today :(

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

It shouldn't be a problem booking a ticket for my wife from my account, should it?

No. Unless for some reason they think you are 'selling' the ticket. It's still early in Columbia, I'm hoping they'll be there in just a few hours from now.
