re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Cheers.
Do the 747s from SYD have the new F ?

At the moment generally no...even though the 9F seat map is often shown.

Thanks. Any idea when these are due ? Later this year ?
And how's the J on the 747 out of the SYD ? Angled-flat like the 777 out of Melb ?

yes it's angled lie flat.

As for 9F config on the Thai fleet, only half of the fleet are being refurbed, 6 in total. The 6th is currently undergoing the upgrade. Sydney will most likely continue to remain a 10F config until the 747 is retired , with occasional swaps to 9F on a day to day basis

Dont forget to have a look at BNE which will be getting the newer J product in the 777.

We had 10 F Sydney/Bangkok 15th June. & 9 F Bangkok/Rome 16th June, & 10 F all on the way home 17 & 18th July.... so luck of the draw.

Guys is award availability the same across all members of *A ? Would SQ and TG award availability on LM and USDM be largely the same ?

Thanks

Largely...but LM has some 'special' SQ availability...but the LM booking engine is a LOT less flexible than a US DM agent!

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

We must be due for a promo soon ?
From what I can tell in July 2012 there was the 100% share promo then in september 2012 the 100% buy promo, in December 2012 the 100% buy promo again and then in April this year the 100% buy promo.
For those that joined from the beginning... its been a good 12 months eh :cool:

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Was doing some searching today and found some availability on SQ's 388 from MEL-SIN return (SQ217/8) as part of a J trip to FCO, I didn't think that was possible. Hopefully soon the Suites open up lol, or at least the new First on the 77W

LM seems to have some longhaul premium SQ product available, but on select routes and maybe not the really long ones. I know I booked J on the SQ A345 (before it is going to be terminated later this year), which, for the rest of non-KF *A, is known to be near impossible to impossible.

Not sure if this is intentional, a fluke or all or none of the above, but I guess you take what you can get!

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Does anyone know if FCO is the only SQ European city running the old 772 "couches" (i.e., no refurb) ?
I don't mind those couches to be honest and its the only SQ route that I'm seeing availability. Rome is fine just wanted to know if there are any alternatives.
Finding nothing on IST or AMS or CPH.

Cheers.

usdm - sq premium long haul aircraft generally not available for redemption.
LM - sq premium long haul aircraft have reasonable availability. LM can also book LH F within 14 days of departure.

however... with lifemiles there is no mixed class redemption... so you cannot fly first class to Frankfurt and then connect business class to another European destination. or fly business class to bangkok and then pick up Lufthansa first.

each program has benefits depending on what you want to do.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Also LM has issues with subsidiary carriers where US is totally OK. Eg LH Cityline, pretty much anything operated by OS and I'm sure others.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

LM can also book LH F within 14 days of departure.

So most people are probably booking this by either
  • Starting with a J booking, then switching to a F booking when within 14 days (paying the change fee where applicable), or
  • Being super flexible (risky) and booking the applicable sector within 14 days of travel

Right?

maybe b) :) ... I wouldn't be booking an LH business seat anywhere unless it was a full flat, which is only limited at the moment. I haven't looked for F availability on prime Germany-USA routes, but out of Asia for example it can be pretty wide open at times.
