re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Guys I am looking at booking a trip for my sister and her fam to Jakarta at the end of the year.
AVAILABILITY GALORE !

But she has two lovely girls one is 3 years old the other one will be about 20 months by the time its December.
Does anyone know how they will be priced in terms of points ? Would it be 10% of the J fare for the <2 year old ? And like 75% for the 3 year old ? Is this paid in cash or miles ?

Thanks.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

If they are taking a seat then it is 100% miles. If they are a lap child then it is 10% of fare (full I think). It may be about the same price as putting them in a seat.

Anyone cancelled abooking as a points buying strategy? Said to function effectively but never done it personally.

i think with the change in price of the top up miles it has become less of an incentive to do this. especially with cancellation fees. it is now as effective to wait for the 2-4-1 deals unless you really need base miles urgently.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Was wondering if anybody had any success calling up lifemiles and trying to custom build an itinerary?
Trying to book PER - JFK which obviously is not the most straightforward on *A.
lifemiles.com engine is not throwing up anything but i can construct an intinerary (e.g. PER - xSIN - xTPE - JFK) under MPM using the ANA tool / individual searches.

lifemiles agents have the same booking tool that you access as a passenger. if it doesn't come up there then the call centre won't be of assistance.

I'm getting a message that indicates that the 150,000 annual limit includes the bonus miles, which is not what I would have expected.

"The miles you want to purchase plus the promotion's bonus go over the annual limit of 150,000 miles. You can continue with your purchase, but will not accrue the promotion's bonus."

I can go to 65000 and get no message, once I ask for 70000 I do, have 30K in there and total purchased this year is 100K

That's strange, I purchased 50,000+50,000 earlier in the year, and can't get past 25,000 without getting the error message.

With my dodgy maths that's 150K miles for a $3000 US outlay.
Is that how much it was last time?
I currently have 150K in my life miles account and trying to figure out if its worth topping up.

$2,250 outlay, I think.

With the drop in the dollar, miles purchased and banked are looking like a bargain now, could well be wise to do the same on the assumption the dollar will continue its fall.
